Guidelines For Celebrating New Year

Udupi District Police wish all the people of Udupi District a Happy New Year 2008. The New Year celebration should not cross the limitation of law, in this regard Udupi Police is taking some measures and appeal the people to follow the following guidlines while celebrating the New Year 2008.

1. On the night of 31/12/07, check posts will be created in all the main spots of Udupi district with special Police teams along with the Video camera and breath analyzer to keep a watch on the movement of people.
2. No body should drive in drunked condition, Police teams will be using breath analyzer to find out whether anyone is driving in drunked condition and if found appropriate legal action will be taken.
3. Use of alcohol near beach side is completly prohibitated and anybody found there with alcohol/ wine appropriate legal action will be taken. Police parties will be there on patrolling in Malpe, Kaup, Marvanthe and other important beaches.
4. During celebration of New Year there should not be any activity which hurts the feeling of any relegion, caste or region.

5. New Year celebration parties should strictly finish before 12:00 clock of 31st night.

Police appeal to the public to follow the above mentioned instructions for celebrating New Year peacfully and to avoid any untoward incident.

Raid on Computer Game-Gambling centre

On 30/12/07 at 14:30 hrs, on credible information PI DCIB Mr. Girish along with his staff raided one computer game center where gambling was going on. Police team raided Play Station Computer Game near Janardhan Hotel, Udupi which belongs to one Rajesh of Kadekar, Udupi. Accordingly Police party seized six computers, UPS, batteries and other computer accessories all worth Rs. 2,50,000/- and cash Rs. 3434/- with arresting seven persons. One person by name Anil from Bangalore provided all these facilities to Rajesh to start gambling with help of computers and Rajesh was using all these computers with different games loaded for the purpose of gambling.
In this connection a case has been registered in Udupi Town Police Station.

Pedestrain killed in Road Traffic accident

On 29/12/2007 at 12:15hrs. near Belmana Bus stop, Belman, driver of a Lorry bearing registration number CNX-6979, drove his Vehicle in a rash & negligent manner and hit to an motor cycle from the way of Karkala to Padubidri. Then onwords loosing control over his Vehicle the driver of the lorry hit to the shop of raghavendra Achar, and then onwords hit to an Alto car bearing registration number KA 21 M 3403. Finaly stopped after hiting to a lady who was standing in the side of the road for catching a bus. As a result the lady Smt. Mani Shetty received serious injuries and scummbed to his injuries in hospital and the motorcycle rider also got serious injuries and admitted to the hospital. In this connection a case has been registered in Karkala Rural Ps and investigation is on.

Basheer Murder case traced by Udupi police

On the night of 17/12/2007 at 01:15 hrs, near Someshwar, Nadpal village, Hebri. While the complainant Abdul Khader and his uncle Abdul Basheer and 2 others were stopped to have some tea in a teashop, accused Smt. Zarina, Prakash Shetty & Ravi Poojary were made a preplan to kill Basheer. So 2 persons came in motorcycle & attacked on Basheer with a sharp weapon & killed Basheer. Both the accused Praveen Kulal & Divakar Poojary were arrested. After interrogation they reveled the fact of involvement of Smt.Zarina, Prakash Shetty & Ravi Poojary. The Motor cycle, weapons, Mobile & Sim card were sized which were used for succeeding the murder. The main accused Zarina was arrested and 2 other Prakash Shetty & Ravi Poojary were absconding.

In between 14/12/07 19:00 hrs to 26/12/07 18:00 hrs some unknown culprits committed a theft of Yamaha Libero motor cycle bearing registration No KA 20 Q 1846. Which was parked near M.G.M, bus stand, Manipal. On the complaint of Sri.Shivananda Bangera a case has been registered in Udupi Town P.S. efforts are on to trace the culprits and motor cycle.

Theft case registered at Kaup

In between 23/12/07 17:00 hrs to 25/12/07 15:00 hrs, some unknown culprits gained entry by breaking the door lock of Sri.Gururaj Acharys house. which is located at Kalyalu, Innanje village and stolen some silver articles and cash. The total worth of stolen property was Rs. 20,000/-. In this regard a theft case has been registered at Kaup PS. Efforts are on to trace the culprits and property.

Illegal arrack sized at Nitte, Karkala.

On 24/12/07 at 21:30 hrs on credible information PSI Karkala Rural PS along with his staff raided the spot near Atturu santhrottu, Nitte village, Karkala and arrested one Kariya Poojary. At the time of police party raid the accused person possessing illegal arrack for sale without any permission. PSI Karkala Rural PS arrested the accused Kariya Poojary and seized illegal arrack. In this regard a case has been registered at Karkala Rural PS and investigation is on.

On 23/12/07 at 00:15 Hrs on credible information PSI Shirva and PSI Karkala Rural P.S along with their staff raided near Kuthyaru Village, Shirva and found,1) Sainath 2)Naveen shetty 3) Sudarshan 4) Chandrahasa 5) Ashok Kumar 6) Umesh Poojary 7) Mustaq 8) Shakir asadi 9) Jhon Mathayas and 10) Sandeep were playing Andar-Bahar Gambling. PSI Shirva and PSI Karkala Rural P.S arrested these persons and sized cash Rs.12,640/- and playing cards. In this regard a gambling case has been registered in Shirva P.S and investigation is on.

Illegally selling lottery tickets sized in Kollur PS

On 22/12/07 at 18:40 hrs, Sri Sampath PSI Kollur and his staff raided near post office, Kollur at that time one Babu found illegally selling Kerala and Sikkim states lottery tickets without any permission. PSI and his staff arrested Babu and sized RS-1,140 lottery tickets and cash Rs.220/-. In this regard a case has been registerd at Kollur P.S and investigation is on.

Un-Identified dead body found at Belman, Karkala.

On 22/12/07 at Belman village, Karkala taluk one unknown male person was found hanging from the tree by nailon rope. The dead body was in a rotten state. In this regard a un natural death case has been reported in Karkala Rural PS and investigation is on to trace the address of the un known dead body.

The description of the dead body is as follows:

Aged about 30-40 years male

The head is separate from the body and the body was in a rotten state

9,50,000 Worthy Cash Bag Theft in Kundapura

Today at 12:30 hrs, Sri. Raghavendra Kini, Belve, Kundapura drawn cash Rs-9,50,000/- from Canara bank of his personal account, while reaching towards his Indica car, some persons tried to turn over his concentration over his bag, which was kept on the seat of car, by showing few amount of money in the form of ten & hundred rupee notes, which are laying on the ground, while Raghavendra Kini collecting the money, The unknown persons escaped from the spot along with that bag which was containing Rs-9,50,000/- cash. In this regard a case is registered in Kundapura PS, and investigation is on to trace the culprits along with cash.

Forged Certificates Racket Busted by Manipal Police

On 16/12/07, the MAHE authorities registered a compliant at Manipal PS regarding the forgery of certificates which were sent by Vibrant Services Pvt Ltd Bangalore for the verification of educational certificates & copies of statement of marks of B.E Degree exam (Ist to 8th Semester) of one Mr Sathyaprakash Rai along with the provisional pass certificate of said person. On verification the controller of examinations found that such student had not studied B.E ( Computer Science ) during the period of 2001-2004 in MAHE University and all the certificates mentioned were forged and fabricated. Signatures of Director, Controller of examinations, Vice Chancellor of the University has been forged.

In this regard Police Inspector B.G Achar of Manipal took up investigation and in further investigation accused Sathyaprakash Rai revealed that one Mr. Nagendra @ Chinna of Maruthi Nagar, Bangalore had prepared the said certificates for Rs. Ten Thousand. In further investigation it was disclosed that Nagendra @ Chinna had forged certifictes for following Universities/ Boards :- 1. Sri Krishnadevaraya University A.P, 2. State Board of Technical Education A.P, 3. Cochin University of Science and Technology, 4. Andhra University, 5. Andhra Open University, 6. Board of Secondary Eduaction A.P, 7. Board of Intermediate Education A.P, 8. Nagarjuna University A.P, 9. Sri Venkateshwara University A.P, 10. Osmania University A.P, 11. Annamalai University., 12. Magadh University, 13. Sant Gadge Baba Amaravathi University. 14.Maharashtra State Secondary Education, 15. Kuvempu University Karnataka, 16.Vishweshwarayya Technology University Belgaum Karnataka., 17. Adarsha College Bangalore., 18. S.S.L.C Board Karnataka., 19. P.U Board Karnataka, 20. Gulbarga University, 21.Bangalore University.

Police have seized one computer, two scanner, one colour printer, one NOKIA mobile phone, some forged certificates, two bundles of papers which are used for printing forged documents and cash of Rs. 4500/- by arresting Nagendra. Case is under investigation.

Girl missing at Byndoor

On 16/11/07 at Vidyanagar, Ganganadu road, Byndoor one Vidyalaxmi aged about 15 years went to govt college Byndoor and not return back to home. In this regard a girl missing case has been registered at Byndoor P.S on the complaint of her mother Smt. Kittu @ Masthi. Efforts are on to trace the missing girl.

On 17/12/07 at 17:00 hrs., on credible information Sri. B.S. Sathish, PSI Karkala Rural P.S along with his staff raided a public place near Alimargudde, Edu Village, Karkala Taluk and seized illegally stored arrack worth Rs 9814/- and a cash of Rs.2150/-. In this regard accused Siril D’ Souza S/o Gregory D’ Souza, Kuriyaru, Edu village was arrested and a case has been registered against him in Karkala Rural PS.

Murder case reported in Hebri PS

Absconded rowdy arrested at Bellary

On 28/11/2007 one rowdy Ananda @ Navole Ananda @ Vikas was taken to Bhadravati court for deposing his evidence from Udupi Armed Police escort towards Shimoga, While having their lunch at Bright Hotel, Shimoga accused person escaped from police custody. In this regard stern inspection has been initiated and eventually PSI Hiriyadka & Udupi DCIB Squad succeeded to trace the accused on 13/12/2007 night at Anjanappa circle in Bellary. The same accused has been produced before Hon'ble JMFC court Karkala. The court has sentenced judicial custody to the accused up to 27-12-2007.

On 09/12/07 at 15:00 hrs one Jayarama shetty found dead body of one unknown woman aged about 60 years on the bank of Sowparnika river, Adanbailu, Hosadu village, Kundapur taluk. On 09/12/07 at night time near Padubidri bus stand, while PSI Padubidri and his staff are on night rounds duty, one Pradeep S/o Damodar Acharya R/o Bhjana mandira mane, Kilpady village, Mangalore found in a suspicious manner. When PSI and his staff checked his Plastic bag, 8 Mobile phones, 4 Airtel company sims, 1 BSNL sim was founded without any document. The total value of these properties are Rs. 35,000/-. In this regard a case has been registered in Padubidri PS. Efforts are on to trace the source of these property.

3 S.B.M.L. country made gun seized at Shankaranarayana

On 08/12/2007, on credible information, Sri C.E.Thimmaiah, PI, DCIB., Udupi and his staff raided different places of Shankaranarayana police station limits. The police team by arresting 1) Vadiraja Naik S/o Late Sanjeeva Naik, R/o Heggodlu, Kulunje village, Kundapura Taluk, 2) Krishna Hegde S/o Late Subbanna Hegde, R/o Rattadi, Kulunje village, Kundapura Taluk and 3) Raghavendra S/o Sadashiva Madivala, R/o Goraje, 76 Halady, Kundapura Taluk seized 3 S.B.M.L. country made guns. All the accused persons doen't have any license for holding the arms. Shankaranarayana police registered a case in this regard. Efforts are on to trace the source of supply of arms.

On 07/12/07 at 18:00 hrs, when one Smt. Susheela Shetty was walking towards her home, located at Mundkuru village, while nearing Sankala Kariya bus stop, two unknown persons aged about 20-25 years followed her from her behind and suddenly snatched her 2 gold chains worth Rs.35,000/-. In this regard a robbery case has been registered in Karkala Rural P.S. Efforts are on to trace the culprits and property.

One killed in road traffic accident at Brahmavara

On 05/12/2007 at 02:00 hrs. near Laxmi Bar Uppoor Village Uppoor, the driver of the Tata Mobile bearing number KA 20 A 6805, drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, and dashed against to Active Honda bearing registration number KA 20 R 4998, as a result Active Honda rider Sri.Vijay and pillion rider Smt. Jyothi sustained grievous injuries. Immediately they were shifted to KMC Hospital for treatment, because of treatment failure Smt. Jyothi succumbed to the injuries. In this connection a case has been registered in Brahmavara PS and case is under investigation

On 04/12/07 at 08:30 hrs, near Yalajith village, Kundapura Taluk, a driver of the TATA Sumo bearing registration No. KA-08-2942 drove his vehicle in a rash & negligent manner and hit to a pedestrian, as a result Erayya Gowda (55) of Yalajith village, Kundapura got grievous head injuries and admitted to Govt. On 02/12/2007, at about 08:45 Hrs on the credible information Sri Mahesh Prasad PSI, Hiriyadka and his staff arrested the accused Sanjeeva Madivala and Ramanatha Nayak they were illegally transported 38.200 KG Sandal wood by Scooter bearing registration No K.A-20-H-8155 at Bommarabettu village, Sadana compound road. And also seized 21 inch saw(wood cutter). Total worth Rs. 40,000/- In this regard a case has been registered at Hiriyadka PS ,and the case is under investigation.

On the night of 30/11/2007, some unknown culprits committed theft of one Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle bearing registration No. KA 20 K 1517 which was parked in the compound of Ravi Kumar, Kunjal, Neelavara village. Gambling raid at Atrady, Hiriyadka

On 30/11/2007 at about 20:15 hrs on credible information, Sri Maheshprasad, PSI Hiriyadka along with his staff raided a public place near Srinidhi Bar, Atrady village, where the accused persons namely 1) Ramadas Naik, 2) Mahesh Kumar, 3) Chandra, 4) Narayana and 5) Sadhu Naik were found playing "Andar-bahar". By arresting them, the police team seized cash of Rs. 1,150/- and accessories which were used for the purpose of playing "Andar-bahar". Hiriyadka police registered a case in this regard.
