On 16/02/2007 at 02:00pm CPI Karkala and staff raided one Movie Theater Planet situated at the bus stand, Karkala on credible information that the theatre is showing pornographic movies. At the time of raid police party found the video theatre exhibiting a pornographic movie to the viewers. Accordingly Police party seized one projector, two DVD players 7 DVD’s and One V.C.D of pornographic material along with 22 pirated DVDs and one Pirated V.C.D. Police seized property of worth around Rs. 1,62,300/- with arresting one Roshan Kutinho S/o Silvester Kutinho R/o Miyar, Karkala who was looking after the video theatre.
The video theatre belongs to one Jerold Kutinho S/o Silvester Kutinho R/o Miyar, Karkala who also has been made one of the accused in the case. In this connection a case has been taken up at Karkala Town P.S Cr. No. 32/07 U/s 51, 63 of Copy Right Act (Amendment Act 1984 and 1994) and Sec. 292 IPC.
