On 02/02/07 at 14:30 hrs, at Kotthalkatte on NH 17, Uliyaragoli village, Kaup, a Tankar on its way from Udupi to Mangalore numbered KA-01-C-3697, collided head-on against a Bus numbered KA-20-7087 . As a result the Bus Capsized on the road and 11 passengers belonging to the bus were injured. Balakrishna aged 34 years, Bharath Nagar, Uliyaragoli, Kaup and Ayisha aged 50 years, Uchila received serious injuries and succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital, the other injured persons were admitted to various hospitals in Udupi. In this connection a case has been registered in Kaup PS Cr.No-18/07 U/s. 279, 337, 338, 304(A) IPC, against the rash and negligent tanker driver and investigation is on.
