On 26/07/2006 at 04:30 hrs DCIB,Udupi Inspector Sri C.E Thimmayya and staff while on rounds, picked up one Shamir @ shammi(18) who was wandering suspiciously near City bus stand, Udupi. During interrogation they disclosed that they along with his coordinaters Mayyaddi & Mustaf were involved in several chain snatching cases in Hebri, Uppinangadi, Palimaru, Adve, Moodabettu, Muloor, Kuthyar village surroundings etc. One Gold chain valueing Rs. 21,000/- has been recovered from the place where it was disposed off. Accused Shamir has been arrested and sent for judicial custody. His coorinaters Mayyadi & Mustaf were already arrested by the same Police team on 17/07/2006.
