Four Arrested With Sandal Wood at Karkala

On 27/09/07 Plolice team coprising of PSI Karkala Rural P.S. and staff on credible information seized 2.4 kg sandal wood and arrested four persons who were carrying sandal wood in their bikes. Along with sandal wood police have seized two motor cycles which were being used for committing offence. Details of the arrested persons is as follows:-
i) Imthiyaz (24 yrs) S/o Abdul Quadir, Moodbidri
ii) Shekhar (27 yrs) S/o Vasantha, Kerekodi, Bola
iii) Shekh Abba (30 yrs) S/o Abdul Quadir,Moodbidri
iv) Mohmmad Sadiq 924 yrs) S/o Abubakkar, Moodbidri
All accused were produced before judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody
In this connection a case has been taken up at KarakalaRural P.S. in crime no. 128/07 U/s- 86, 87 of Karnataka Forest Act, 1963 and sec. 379 of IPC and case is under investigation.

Stolen property recovered along with thieves

On in between 24/09/07 12:00 hrs to 25/09/07 16:00 hrs near Rama mandira, Perduru village, Udupi Taluk some unknown culprits by breaking open the house window, committed theft of copper household articles worth Rs. 16,000/-. In this connection a theft case has been registered in Hiriyadka P.S and Hiriyadka Police formed a team to trace out the culprits and to recover the property. On 26/09/07 PSI Hiriyadka and staff headed by Kum. Chandrakala, Probationary Dy.S.P., arrested 4 suspected ladies who are indulging in picking scrap near telephone exchange, Perduru namely 1) Panchaly (30) w/o Mariyappa R/o Kumbhashi, Kundapura 2) Sumithra (28) w/o Subramanya R/o 5 cents, Kumbhashi, Kundapura 3) Shivamma (32) W/o Krishna R/o Kumbhashi, Kundapura and 4) Muniyamma(38) W/o Ramu R/o Shanthi Nagar, Manchi, Badagabettu Village, Udupi and recovered all the stolen copper household articles worth Rs16,000/-.

Missing case reported in Byndoor

On 25/09/07 at 19:00 hrs, Smt.Bibi Ayisha aged about 42 Yrs, went out side of her House located in Naykanakatte, Kergal Village, Kundapur Taluk and did not returned back to home. In this connection a case has been registered in Byndoor PS on the complaint of her husband Shri.N.S Dastagir Saheb and case is under investigation.

Arrack bottles seized at Thekatte

On 25/09/07, PI. DCIB Sri. C.E Thimmayya along with his staff raided near Kume, Thekatte Village, Kundapura Taluk and seized illegally stored 180 ml 44 Arrack bottles and cash worth Rs 280/-. Total property worth Rs 2,280/- In this regard accused Krishna Poojary S/o Basava poojary, Matadi was arrested and a case has been registered against him in Kota PS.

Illegal transportation of cows for Slaughtering in Kaup

On 23/09/2007 at about 15:45 Hrs, with credible information Sri. Shivananda H.C along with Kaup P.S staff Siezed one Tempo bearing registration number KA-20-3064 at Uliyaru village Polipu Junction Kaup. It was illegally transporting 2 Cows for slaughtering towards Mangalore , The Cows were rescued and the accused were arrested. A case has been registered in Kaup P.S.

Accused lady was arrested and a prostitution case has been registered in Manipal PS and investigation is on.

Illigally transporting Bullocks were rescued by Manipal police

On 22/09/2007 at about 08:00 Hrs, on credible information Sri Sangamesh V. Shivayogi, PSI, Manipal P.S and his staff found one lorry bearing registration number KA-19/D-3547 carrying 13 bullocks for slaughtering purpose from Belgum to Belman, In this regard police party arrested 5 persons at Angadibettu, Hirebettu Village, junction. The bullocks were rescued and a case has been registered in Manipal PS.

Kidnapping Case registered at Byndoor PS

On 21/09/2007 at 13:30 hrs complainant Sri. Dayananda along with Narasimha And Mookambu were walking on the Byndoor-Ganganadu road, near Bada Cross, towards Govt.First Grade College Byndoor. A gang of 3-4 unknown persons with Maruthi Omini, bearing No-CTV-616. and stopped the car and Kidnapped Mookambu, and went toward Ganganadu. In this connection a case has been taken up in Byndoor PS. and investigation is taken up to trace the Kidnapped girl.

One killed in road traffic accident at Karkala

On 21/09/07 at 18:30 hrs near Neralakatte, Malebettu, Durga village, Karkala Taluk, due to the break failure of the jeep bearing registration No. KA 33 M 42, it skidded and rolled on the mud road. As a result the driver of the jeep Shankar Gore succumbed on the spot to the injuries and other inmates namely Vittal Sheety, Sundara Mera and Vittal Poojary got minor injuries. Karkala Rural police registered a case in this regard.

Burglary case reported at Yermal, Padubidri

On the night of 18/09/2007, some unknown culprits gained entry into a house located at Maragudde, Ermal village, Udupi Taulk by breaking open the ventilators bricks and committed theft of cash of Rs. 15,000/- and gold ornaments which was kept in the Godrej. The value of property stolen yet to be known. Padubidri police registered a theft case in this regard on the complaint of Smt. Hajira W/o Abdul Rahiman. Efforts are on to trace the property and the culprits.

Athrady murder case accused arrested along with robbed gold ornaments

On 15/09/2007 in between 13:30 hrs to 17:00 hrs it was reported that some unknown culprits murdered an old woman namely Smt. Varija shedthi in her own house located at Kalpana Nilaya, Pareeka Thimpayee, Athrady village, Udupi Taluk. On the complaint of Sri Aravinda Shetty, Hiriyadka police registered a murder case and took up investigation.
On the direction of SP, Udupi, Sri M.B.Nagaraju, Dy.S.P., Udupi Sub-Division formed 3 police teams to detect the case. After a hard work round the clock, the police team apprehended one Prakash @ Puttappa Gornaver (29) S/o Koteppa Gornaver, Koradoor, Haveri district who is formerly living at Moodushedde, Mangalore in a rented house. On investigation he confessed that, he murdered the lady and robbed the gold ornaments. According to his statement police team also seized gold ornaments. The accused Prakash had an illegal relationship with one Laxmi W/o Basavaraj, a coolie worker having three children at mangalore. 2 months back he along with Smt. Laxmi with her one year female baby approached Sri. Anith shetty, owner of Sri Devi Lorry and introduced Smt. Laxmi as his wife and agreed to work in the lorry. Then he resided in one portion of Anith Shetty’s relative Smt. Varija Shetty’s house. On 11/09/2007 by saying that he is leaving the work and will go to Manipal for some other work, he left the place along with Smt. Laxmi and her child. Then he went to Mangalore. On 15/09/2007, by knowing that Smt. Varija Shedthi was alone in her house, he came to Kalpana Nilaya, murdered the lady and robbed the gold ornaments weighing 68 Gms.

Illicit spirit Seized at Kundapur

On 17/09/2007, Sri. C.E Thimmayya, PI DCIB Udupi and his staff seized the abandoning tanker bearing registration No. GJ-6-W-8092 at Prabhu Auto fuels near Basrur cross road Kundapura. While checking the vehicle they found illegally stored spirit in a specially builded compartment of the Tanker. Total value of Rs 8,00,000/- property was seized by the police including the tanker. In this connection a case has been registered in Kundapur PS under Karnataka Excise Act and investigation is under process.

Old woman murdered for gain

On 14/09/2007, in between 13:30 hrs to 17:00 hrs some unknown culprits committed murder of an old woman namely Smt. Varija Shedthi who was living alone in day time at her home located at Kalpana nilaya, Thimpayee, Pareeka, Atrady village, Udupi Taluk and robbed gold ornaments weighing 68 Gms. Smt. Varija Shedthi’s son Rajesh shetty is working in an abroad and his wife Roopa Shetty is living in another house i.e. Varija nilaya, located in the same village. For the purpose of sleeping, daily Smt. Varija Shedthi going to her son’s house sharply at 17:00 hrs and returning to her house next morning at 08:00 hrs. On 14/09/2007 until 18:30 hrs, Smt. Varija Shetty not came to her son’s house, then Smt. Roopa shetty brought this to the notice of Sri N.Aravinda Shetty, the brother-in-law of Smt. Varija Shetty. When Sri N.Aravinda Shetty went to Kalpana nilaya, he found that Smt. Varija Shetty was murdered. Hiriyadka police registered a murder case based on the complainant lodged by Sri N.Aravinda Shetty and took up investigation. Police team formed to detect the case.

All above mentioned accused are remanded to judicial custody.

Two killed in fatal road accident near Halakatte

On sunday 09-09-2007, at about 5.35 pm near Halakatte, Kalya village a bus coming from Karkala towards Padubidri and a motor cycle coming in the opposite direction met with a head-on collision, resulting in the death of motor cycle rider and pillion rider. The names of the deceased are as follows:-
1. Murgesh aged 19 yrs, R/o Miyar village
2. Venktesh aged 35 yrs, R/o Miyar village
A case has been taken up in crime no. 116/07 U/s 279, 304(A) IPC at Karkala Rural P.S. against the driver of the bus for rash and negligent driving and is under investigation.

Three killed in fatal road accident near Kaup

On sunday 09-09-2007, at about 3.45 pm near Polipu, Kaup on the national highway 17, a school bus of Vidya Niketan school coming from Udupi towards Kaup and a truck coming in the opposite direction met with a head-on collision, resulting in the death of a school teacher and two students of the school travelling in the bus. The driver of the bus, Devananda is undergoing treatment for injuries and is out of danger. The names of the deceased are as follows,

  2. Rajat Sharma aged 13 yrs, student of 8th standard
  3. Smitha aged 16 yrs, student of 10th standard

A case has been taken up against the rash and negligent driver of the truck on the complaint of the school bus driver, and is under investigation.

Theft of CDMA BTS feeder cable from Chittur Telephone Exchange

On the night of 09/09/2009 at 01:50 hrs, the security guard of Chittur telephone exchange sri. Nagaraja found one drum containing 360 meters of feeder cable of BSNL was stolen from the telephone exchange compound, which was used for the purpose of connecting CDMA BTS tower from Antena to CDMA equipment, and it was made up of copper. The cost of the stolen property worth Rs: 2,19,600/-. In this regard a case has been registered at Kollur P.S and investigation is on to trace the culprits.

Two Died on Bus Accident at Siddapura

On 06/09/07 at 10:00 hrs. Near Dottinaberu, Siddapura Village, Kundapura taluk, accused KSRTC bus bearing No. KA19 F 1911 driver drove his bus in a rash and negligence manner towards Siddapura and dashed against Hanuman bus bearing No. KA 20 A 9166. As the result both buses passengers are injured. Injured passengers are immediately shifted to the hospital. On the way to the hospital two KSRTC bus passengers succumbed on their injuries. In this connection a Fatal Accident case has been registered against the KSRTC bus driver at Shankarnarayana PS Cr. No. 92/07 and investigation is on.

ILLEGALLY TRANSPORTING COWS SEIZED BY KUNDAPURA POLICE

On 04/09/2007 at about 08:30 Hrs,on credible information Sri Jayantha M, PSI Kundapura P.S and his staff, intercepted one vehicle illegally transporting 6 cows, at Thallur Junction in a Pickup Vehicle bearing registration number KA-20 /1745. As the accused fled from the scene, it is suspected that the cows were illegally being transported for slaughtering. The cows were thus rescued. In this connection a case has been registered in Kundapura PS. The accused are still absconding. Efforts are on to trace them.

illegally selling arracks seized by DCIB Police

On 04/09/07 at 09:00 Hrs PI, DCIB Sri. C.E Thimmayya along with his staff raided near Hole Bagilugudde, 33 Shiruru Village, Udupi Taluk and seized illegally stored 100 ml 106 Arrack Packets and cash worth Rs 220/-. In this regard accused Bella Naika was arrested and a case has been registered against him in Brahmavara PS.

On 04/09/07 at 12:15 Hrs PI, DCIB Sri. C.E Thimmayya along with his staff raided near M.J. Colony Junction, Vaddarse Village. At the time of Police Party raid accused Manjunath Poojary carrying 15 bottle XXX Rum, 6 bottle Mysore Lancer, 14 bottle Prestige Whisky in his scooter for the purpose of illegally selling to the public. Accused was arrested, cash Rs. 280/- were seized. Total seized property worth Rs. 16,480/-. In this connection a case has been registered against him in Kota PS.

One killed in road traffic accident at Brahmavar

On 04/09/2007, at 12:00 hrs near Govt. hospital, Brahmavar, NH 17, Varamballi village, a motor cycle rider rided his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner towards Kundapura from Udupi and dashed to one Smt. Kollu. As a result she got grevious injuries. While undergoing treatment at KMC, Manipal, she succumbed to the injuries. Brahmavar police registered a case in this regard and the case is under investigation.

Temple theft case reported in Udupi Town

In between 28/08/2007 to 04/09/2007, some unknown culprits gained entry into Sri Babbu Swamy temple located at Puttur village, Udupi Taluk by breaking open the door lock and committed theft of worship items and other valuables. Udupi Town police registered a theft case in this regard on the complaint of Sri Ramesh K. Udupi. Efforts are on to trace the culprits and the property.

Construction worker murdered in Trasi, Gangolli

At Trasi, under Gangolli P S limits, at an upcoming Beach Resort construction site, two labourers Vivin Satyapal Momin (45 yrs ) and Krishnamurthy ( 34 yrs ) ended up in a drunken brawl on the evening of 01-09-2007, and in a fit of anger, Krishnamurthy slashed the neck of Vivin with a sharp weapon, thereby, Vivin bleeding to death. After committing the offence, Krishnamurthy fled to his native place near Thirthalli. The incident came to light only yesterday evening ie., 02-09-2007 when the owner of the resort visited the house. A case of murder was immediately taken up ay Gangolli PS, on his complaint and police teams were sent to various places in search of the accused. Finally this morning, the team that was sent to Thirthalli nabbed the accused and was later arrested. CPI Kundapur is investigating the case.

Dacoit gang held in Karkala, property recovered



On 23-08-2007 at about 8 AM , ASP Karkala Shri Labhuram along with his staff, on specific information, intercepted a Toyota Innova and a Honda City car at Bajagoli junction and picked up the inmates Haneef, Saadiq, Navile Anand, Kadur Chandra, Siddaraju and Asif of Kaup. On questioning them, they could not explain their presence clearly and so were later subjected to thorough interogation by the police team. They then confessed to a series of dacoities commited in Shimoga, Haveri and Chikmagalur districts and also confessed that they were making preparations for a dacoity at Bajagoli. All six were thus arrested and a case was taken up at Karkala rural PS in Cr No. 113/07 U/s 41(1) (d) , 102 CrPC and Sec's 379, 399, 400, 333 of IPC. The six were produced before the Magistrate the same evening and police custody was sought for the four accused Haneef, Saadiq, Anand and Chandra in view of the offences already committed. During the 10 days of police custody the following property belonging to various offences committed by them were recovered.

Of the accused, Mohhammed Haneef @ Kammaraddi Haneef is a notorious dacoit belonging to Koppa Chikmagalur, involved in about 10 cases including a murder, a jail break and a fake passport. Most of his robberies and dacoities have been committed in Shimoga district. Mohammed Saadiq belonging to Kadur, Chikmagalur is involved in about 10 cases of theft, robbery and dacoity. Anand of Vinobha nagar, Shimoga, Chandra of Kadur and Siddaraju of Arsikere, Hassan have 5, 4 and 3 cases against them respectively.

In further investigation police also arrested three more accused by name Kamaradi Majid 25yrs, Hariyarpura Venktesh 28 yes and Bellgola Ramesh who are involved in theft of sandal wood from hosnagara court complex.

More property like stolen gold ornaments and sandalwood which were disposed off in Mumbai and Goa respectively, are still to be recovered and investigation is in progress. The property so far recovered is worth about Rs 22, 22,000/-.

Girl Missing at Karkala

On 30/08/07, a Girl named Kum Yashika aged about 17 yrs, Kabettu, Kasba Village Karkala left her house to college and did not return back to home. In this connection a Girl missing case has been registered in Karkala Town P.S Cr. No. 135/07 U/s Girl missing on the complaint of Smt. Shoukath ,Kabettu, Kasba Village, Karkala and the case is under investigation.

The description of the missing girl is as follows:

Age : 17 yrs
Height : 5. 3 feet
Colour : wheatish
Language: Kannada & Tulu
Dress : Red Colour Chudidhar.
