On 14/09/07 Karkala Police nabbed a gang of eight thieves who were indulged in theft of gear drums and other articles from Lemina Foundries, Nitte. Police recovered 87 gear drums of worth Rs.- 1, 94, 000/- and two vehicles which they were using to commit the offence. Details of the arrested accused is as follows:-
1. Mohmmad Ashraf, 24 yrs S/o Abdul Quadir, Nitte.
2. Abdul Ajeej, 25 yrs S/o Ahmmed Bawa, Nitte.
3. Sumant, 21 yrs S/o Anni, Nitte.
4. Yogish Achari, 22 yrs S/o Shrinivas Achari, Nitte.
5. Mathew Josef, 33 yrs S/o Vijayan, Nitte.
6. Jaya Poojari, 39 yrs S/o Angara poojari, Nitte.
7. Nitayanand Poojari, 29 yrs S/o Sanjeeva Poojari, Nitte.
8. Dinesh Shetty, 21 yrs S/o Sanjeeva Shetty, Nitte.
All above mentioned accused are remanded to judicial custody.
In this connection a case has been taken up at Karkala Rural Police Station in crime no.118/07 U/s 380 IPC and is under investigation.
