On 28/05/07 at about 11:15 hrs. near Muloor village Panchayath bldg. on NH 17 an express bus bearing registration No. 19 D 3353 driven by its driver in a reckless manner from Udupi towards Mangalore and while trying to overtake a truck at the above spot rammed into a Tempo bearing registration No. KA 20 -5127 coming opposite direction carrying people for a marriage function. As a result the top of the Tempo was opened and passengers thrown out on the road killing 10 people on the spot and 7 later succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital. The dead include 9 female, 1 male and 7 children's. In this connection a road accident has been registered in Kaup PS Cr. No 87/07 and investigation is on.
