On 29/05/2007 at 17:30 Hrs near Belman, Mundkoor road, Karkala Taluk, while Sri B.S.Sathish, PSI, Karkala Rural PS on checking the motor vehicles, he signalled to stop one white TATA Sumo bearing registration No. KA 22 M 3415. While nearing the police vehicle, one inmate of the TATA Sumo tried to assault the PSI with Talvar with an intention to murder him, but the PSI step backed as a result he got assault injuries on right hand and right leg. There after the police party chased the TATA Sumo, while nearing Jarigekatte, the driver of the TATA Sumo dashed to police jeep and due to collision TATA Sumo turned turtle. Before police party could reach the spot one inmate of the vehicle escaped. On checking the TATA Sumo, police found 4 injured persons and 4 cattles in the vehicle. On enquirng it was known that the name of the inmates were 1) Abubakkar, 2) Dawood, 3) Ismail Rifaz and 4) Shamir. They also confessed that, they were transporting the cattles to Kerala State for slaughter purpose which were stolen from Guruvayanakere and Nelligude. It was also known that the TATA Sumo which was supplied by Ahammed, Bijai, Mangalore. The name of the escaped was Rizwan of Jokatte village. Karkala Rural police registered a case against them and the case is under investigation.
