On the credible information, on 13/04/07, matka raids were conducted by Sri Prakash B.S., PSI, Udupi Town, Sri H.D.Kulkarni, PSI Malpe and Sri Suresh Kumar P, PSI Shankaranaraya in the limits of Udupi Town, Malpe and Shankaranaraya respectively. Police party arrested the following persons 1) Krishna Poojary S/o Mahalinga Poojary, Matpady, Brahmavar, 2) Gopal Amin S/o Sheena Suvarna, Kodavoor, Malpe, and Vasantha Poojary S/o Rama Poojary, Belve, Kundapura and registered cases against them in this connection. They also seized the properties which were being used for the purpose of gambling. Raids against this menace have been intensified in the district.
