On 28/02/2007 at 07:30 Hrs, Sri K. N. Gajendrappa, PSI Udupi Town PS and his staff intercepted one TATA Sumo bearing No. KA 20 M 3850 which was found transporting 9 cows, at Ambagilu Junction, N.H17, Puttur, Udupi and on seeing the police, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot. The cows are likely to being illegally transported for slaughtering purpose. The said Tata sumo was seized and the cows were rescued. In this connection a case in Udupi Town PS Cr. No. 73/07 U/s 9 & 11 of Karnataka prevention of cow slaughter act 1964 has been registered. The case is under investigation.
