On 04/03/2007 at 16:00 hrs. PI DCIB Sri. C.E. Thimmaiah and his staff laid a trap at a place at Shiriyara village, Udupi taluk, on credible information and stopped a Motor Cycle No. KA 20 J 4975 illegaly transporting two leopard skins . The three persons on the bike Charan, Ashok and Ravi Poojari were searched and the police party seized 2 Leopard skins, one Hero Honda Motor Cycle & 2 Mobile phones and arrested 1) Charan Hegde, 2) Ashok Hegde and 3) Ravi Poojary. On the information of the said accused, two more persons namely Balachandra Nayak and Sadananda Poojary @ Sada were arrested and one Tiger skin and 2 Mobile Phones were siezed from them. The value of seized Property worth Rs. 2,00,000/-. All property and accused were handed over to Kota PS for further action. A case has been registered at the Kota PS under the Wildlife protection act and investigation is on.
