On 05/02/07, Sri C.E. Thimmaiah, PI, DCIB and his team arested one absconding accused named Gopal Shetty @ Rajesh who was the prime accused in Padubidri PS Cr. No. 32/03 U/s 109, 353, 302 r/w 34 IPC at Kannar, Cherkady village, Brahmavar PS limits, Udupi Taluk. During the course of enquiry, he confessed to the police that in the year 2003, after committing a dacoity at Mangalore Airport along with one Mahesh shetty and others they tried to flee from the spot towards Udupi using the car. While reaching Padubidri, Sri Sathish, police constable of Padubidri PS signalled to stop the car. But the accused persons killed the said police constable by running over him with the vehicle and escaped. He also confessed that he is involved in several crimes commited at Mumbai.
