On 04/09/2006 at about 05:00 hrs, one Shridhar Bijoor of Byndoor noticed one Tempo bearing registration No. KA-30/3067 transporting 4 buffalloes, 1 bullock, 2 cows and 4 calves towards Bhatkal. Suspecting that the cows were being transported for slaughter, he informed the Byndoor Police. The vehicle was intercepted and on questioning the inmates of the vehicle namely Aboobakar and Ashraf, they confessed to the Police that the cattle were being transported for slaughter. The accused Aboobakar and Ashraf were arrested. All animals along with the vehicle were seized. On the complaint of Sridhar Bijoor a case under Byndoor P.S Cr No 214/06 U/s 8, 11 of Karnataka prevention of cow slaughter act 1964 has been registered and investigation is under progress.
