Mines Lorry banned from entry into Udupi

On instructions from the District-In-charge minister, Udupi and subsequent orders passed by Deputy Commissioner, Udupi that all mines carrying lorries will be prevented entry into Udupi district from 30/07/2006 in view of the worsened road & bridge conditions on N.H. 17, all such mines lorries have been stopped at Byndoor check post in co-ordination with RTO authorities & National Highway authorities along with the Police. The ban has been enforced from 9 AM on 30/07/2006 & all mines carrying lorries were asked to return back. About 300 vehicles were stopped yesterday at the border and those lorries that did not return back were parked on the side of the highway at the border and traffic is clear. Extra police bandobust is being made to prevent any law & order problems arising out the issue.
