POLICE FLAG DAY OBSERVED IN UDUPI

Today on 2nd April 2008 at 08:30 a.m., the Police Flag Day was observed amidst a colorful parade in honour of all present serving and retired police personnel of the District. Sri. Y. Venkappa Tholar retired Reserve Police Inspector was the Chief Guest and received the salute at the parade. The parade was also presided over by SP Udupi, , in the presence of Dy.SsP Karkal, Kundapura & Udupi and also the officers and men of the District Police, Retired Police personnel of the district and members of the media.

Cash cheques Rs. 30,000/- were also given to retired police personnel in the form of educational and health assistance to their families.
The S.P. Udupi also listed out the various welfare measures being under taken in the district for the welfare of serving personnel and also retired Police officers. Some of them are:-
a) The welfare center wherein Tailoring training is being provided to the family members of the police personnel at Manipal Police Qtrs. and Udupi DAR Police Head Qtrs.
b) Police Guest House and Indoor Stadium were inaugurated this year for serving Police persons and their family members.
c) Free Medical camp, Yoga Camp and Summer Computer Training camp conducted for serving Police personal and their family members.
d) Medical and educational assistance provided from welfare fund.
e) Awards for children of Police personnel excelling in P.U.C. & S.S.L.C. exams etc.

The Police Flag day is held every year on 2nd of April to highlight the importance of the welfare of both serving as well as retired police personnel for their service. It is also a day when all retired Police personnel are invited to join their old organization in celebration. This year 19 members have retired.
