Today on 07/04/07 at early hours, a police team lead by Sri. C.E. Thimmaiah PI, DCIB, Udupi raided the workshop of one Heriya Achari S/o. Ananda Achari of Ajri village, Kundapura Taluk and arrested Heriya Achari and recovered the instruments which were being used to manufacture country made guns and one country made gun was seized from the place.
On interrogation the accused revealed the names of persons to whom he sold the illegally manufactured guns and on his statement 7 guns were recovered from the under mentioned individuals. In this connection 1) Subbanna Poojary of Meljeddu, Jagrikatte, Karkunje village, Kundapura, 2) Dayananda Kulal of Hosmane, Ajri village, Kundapura and 3) Narasimha Mogaveera of Moodumunda, Bellala village, Kudapura were arrested and 4) Suresh Poojary of Karkunje village, Kundapura Taluk, 5) Baby Joseph of Ajri village, Kundapura, 6)Sheena Poojary of Kamalashile village, Kundapura and 7) E.M. Joseph of Mudoor village, Kundapura who also are supposed to have received weapons are absconding.
In this regard a case is registered in Shankarnarayana Police Station and is under investigation.
