On 07/02/07 at 17:15 hrs based on credible information ASP Karkala along with PSI and staff of Karkala Rural Police station raided the residence of one Biju T.K S/o Kuruvilla R/o Maitri Nagar Jodurasthe Kukkundoor Village Karkala Taluk and found Explosive Substances stored there in the garden area, which is not an authorised area to store.
Accused Biju T.K is a license holder for keeping Explosives Substances and also has a magazine for the purpose, but when police party searched the magazine, they found it empty and Explosive Substances were actually kept in other places ., like his residence which are not authorised places.
Police party then seized the five boxes of highly Explosive Gelatine sticks each containing 200 sticks and 315 bags (each weighing 50 K.G) of Ammonium Nitrate with 5 liters of diesel from the garden of accused which is situated at Marne village near Ajekar. Police party also seized 8 boxes of nitrate mixture Explosive with nine bundles of safety fuse (each 180 mtrs long) from the residence of accused at Maitri nagar Jodurasthe, Kukkundoor village.
It may be noted that the accused is keeping this highly Explosive Substance in a residential area which is very near to a petrol bunk.
Police seized property worth of about three lakh rupees and arrested the accused Biju T.K. Accordingly a case has been taken up at Karkala Rural Police Station Cr. No. 23/2007 U/s 5, 9 (B) of Explosive Act 1884 and Sec 4,5 Explosive Substance Act. 1908 and investigation is on.
