On 10/09/2006, at about 14:00 Hrs on the credible information Sri Ujjinappa, PSI, Karkala Town along with his team, signaled one motor cycle plying from Ajekar towards Karkala, to stop at Banglegudde main road. Immediately the rider stopped the motor cycle, and the rider along with the pillion rider of the motor cycle tried to escape from the spot by throwing some plastic bags which were with them. On checking them, they were found to be containing Sandal wood pieces. Immediately the police team pursued the two and caught hold of the rider. By arresting him i.e. Kasim S/o Abdul Khader, Ajekar, Marne village, Karkala, they seized 7.75 KG Sandal wood along with the motor cycle used for transporting the material. Total worth of the material siezed is Rs. 7,750/- . In this regard a theft case of sandal wood is registered at Karkala Town PS Cr. No. 112/06 U/s 379 IPC and 86, 87 K.F. Act and the case is under investigation.
