Illegal transporation of cows for slaughtering

On 01/09/2006 at about 08:00 Hrs, While the PSI, Udupi Town Sri Jayantha M along with his staff were checking motor vehicles on NH 17 at Santhekatte, the PSI signaled to stop a TATA mobile bearing registration No. KA 19 B 3741. But the driver of the vehicle did not stop , and drove towards Katpady. On reaching Karavali junction he abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot. The police seized the vehicle and found 11 cows which were being transported cruelly without any care and most likely for slaughtering purpose. The 11 cows along with the vehicle were seized. On the complaint of PSI, Udupi Town a case under Udupi Town P.S Cr No 253/06 U/s 9, 11 of Karnataka prevention of cow slaughter act 1964 has been registered and investigation is under progress.
