Husband kills wife and commits suicide in Ajri, Shankaranarayana

On 28/07/2006, at Ajri village, Kundapura Taluk, one Narayana Poojary, husband of the victim Smt. Kaveri murdered his wife by assaulting her on the neck with sickle for a simple reason of refusing to give money for smoking and chewing betel nut. After committing the act, the accused went to the nearby farm and committed suicide by hanging himself. As per the complaint of Kumari Bhagirathi, the daughter of the victim, she noticed her father holding a blood stained sickle when she returned from work in the morning and on entering the kitchen she found the dead body of her mother in a pool of blood. The father subsequently committed suicide. In this regard a case has been registered by Shankaranarayana Police in Cr. No. 71/2006 U/s 302 IPC. The case is under investigation.
