PRESS NOTE

In order to expedite the process of issual of the passport, the Passport Division , Ministry of External Affairs, has established District Passport Cell in each District Headquarter in the office of the Superintendent of Police. The basic idea behind setting up of these District Passport Cells was to enable the public of far off locations to submit their passport applications at their respective District Headquarters without coming to Bangalore. The District Passport Cell, is authorized to directly receive the passport application emanating from the said district. As the passport applications are received in the office of the District Superintendent of Police, it also expedites the process of police verification. Submission of passport applications at the District Passport Cell not only saves the applicants from the inconvenience of going to the Regional Passport Office, Bangalore, but also expedites the whole process because it ensure speedy police verification. It is being clarified that all the passport applications received by the DPC are immediately sent to the RPO, Bangalore without any delay for further processing. Since, all the entries regarding receipt of passport applications are computerized.
