Temple theft case reported in Kaup

On the night of 29/05/08 some unknown culprits gained entry by breaking the door lock of Venkataramana Temple of Mudabettu village, Kaup and committed the theft of gold, silver & brass items of temple. The total worth of stolen property was Rs. 1,50,000/-. In this regard a case has been registered in Kaup PS. Efforts are on to trace the cuprites and property.

8 year old baby died in a Road accident

On 29/05/08 at 08:30 hrs, driver of a omni car bearing Reg No MH-14 BC-7746 fall down from a bridge near Kelapete village, Shiroor, on the way of NH-17, while trying to give side to a tipper. The passenger in the car got injuries & a 8 year old baby Veda died on the spot. In this connection a case has been registered in Byndoor PS.

Matka gambling raid by Shirva Police

On 23/05/08 at 17:30 hrs PSI Shirva PS and his staff raided the spot near Chandranagar, Kalatturu village, and arrested one Sundar Sherigar S/o Sanjiva Sherigar R/o Kallya, Uliyaragoli, and seized cash worth Rs.310/-. On the night of 20/05/08 in between 20:00 hrs to 08:45 hrs, some unknown culprits gained entry by breaking the shatter door of KalaBairava Furniture’s & Electronics, Which is located near Mangalore Road, Kasaba, Karkala and committed the theft of different companies DVD’s, Stabilizers and cash Rs.3,690/- which was kept in cash counter. Total property worth Rs- 1,30,465/-. In this regard a theft case has been registered in Karkala Town PS and investigation is on to trace the culprits along with property.

4 held for immoral trafficking at Padubidri

On 19/05/08 at 05:00 hrs PSI Padubidri PS and his staff took up credible information and made a raid near Padubidri bus stand, Nadpal village Where they found 4 persons named Bhavya shetty of Kodlamogaru, Sunitha @ Geetha K of Kasaragodu, Chandrika of Kasaragodu, and Sandhy of Kottayam being involved in offence of immoral trafficking. PSI Padubidri PS and his staff arrested these accused persons. Thus a case has been registered at Padubidri PS under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and further investigation is being carried on.

Major road accident - 6 persons killed at Nagoor, Byndoor

On 18/05/2008 at about 14:20 hrs, near Nagoor masjid, NH 17, Kirimanjeshwara village, in a head on collision between lorry bearing registration No. MH 11 AL 6834 and Maruthi Omni bearing registration KA 30 M 1790, 6 inmates of the car succumbed on the spot to the injuries and 4 other got injuries. The lorry was plying towards Bhatkal from Mangalore and the car was plying towards Dharmastala from Honnavar. This was happened due to the rash and negligent driving by the lorry driver Ramesh Srikrishna Yadav (30) s/o Srikrishna Yadav, near Hajri Darga, Goutham Nagar, Wagle Estate, Thana West, Maharastra State. Total 10 devotees including a driver were traveling from Hirehithlu, Javalli post, Honnavar Taluk, UK District to visit Sri Kshetra Dharmastala in a maruthi car. Out of 10 devotees, 6 of them namely 1) Savithri, 30 years, 2) Reshma, 13 years, 3) Subraya Ganapaiah Naik, 36 years, 4) Govinda Gowda, 29 years, the driver of the Maruthi Omni, 5) Mahadeva, 40 years, and 6) Raghavendra, 13 years died on the spot to the injuries. The remaining 4 devotees namely 1) Laxmi, 36 years, 2) Yogeesh, 7 years, 3) Shankara, 25 years and 4) Ravi, 14 years sustained grevious injuries and all of them were immediately shifted to Chinmayee Hospital, Kundapura by Byndoor police for treatment and all are said to be out of danger. All the 6 dead bodies were kept at Primary Health Centre, Byndoor. In this connection a case in Cr. No. 104/08 U/s 279, 338, 304 (a) IPC is registered at Byndoor police station against the lorry driver based on the complaint lodged by Sri Balachandra, 42 years, S/o V.K.Babu Raj, Ambagilu, Uppunda village. The accused driver has been arrested and investigation is on.

Dispute regarding Land & Road resulted in Murder at Shirva

On the night 17/05/08, near Bhathagene, Pilar village, Shirva, the accused Harishchandra Acahri attacked with some weapons on Louis Castelino after quarreling with each other for the dispute regarding Land & Road, Louis Castelino got serious injuries & succumbed to the injuries. The accused Harishchandra also got injuires and admitted to hospital. In this regard a murder case has been registered in Shirva PS & investigation is on.

Both Sisters were missing from Brahmavara

On 13/05/08 at 09:00 hrs two sisters named Poornima (17 years) & Durgashree (14 years) went to Haradi & Brahmavara school from their house located in Salikere and did not return back to home and found missing. On the complaint his father Seetharama Acharya, a missing case has been registered at Brahmavara Police station.

7 held for immoral trafficking at Padubidri

Today Sri. Girish.S, DySP of Karkala Sub-Division along with Padubidri PSI and his staff took up credible information and made a raid on room number 107 & 109 of Ramadeva lodge at Yermal. Where they found seven persons named Prakash of Koppa, Sandeep Suvarna of Ashooknagar, Priya Shetty of Atthavara, Mangalore, Suresh of Padangadi, Magalore, Shobha Poojary of Madhur, Kasaragod and Sanjeeva Shetty of Karnere, Mangalore being involved in offence of immoral trafficking. Dysp karkala and his staff arrested these accused persons and also the manager of Ramadeva Lodge, Raghunath Shetty. In the course of the raid they seized a cash amount of Rs-2,500, the arrival register of Ramadeva lodge and bed sheets of the particular room. Thus a case has been registered at Padubidri PS under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and further investigation is being carried on.

One Lady died in a Road Accident

On 16/05/2008 at 15:00 hrs near Malla Ghat, Mala Village, Karkala an unknown driver of a Lorry, drove his Lorry in rash & negligent manner and dashed against a motor cycle. As a result the rider of the motor cycle Sudhakar got injuries and the pillion rider Kumari Savitha aged 17 years received serious head injuries and died on the spot. In this connection a case has been registered in karkala Rural PS and investigation is on to catch the Lorry along with driver.

Two persons killed at Nadpal, Hebri

On 15/05/08 Bhoja Shetty (55) S/o Padmaiah Shetty, R/o Vishwas Kripa, Balebbi, Seethanadi, Nadpal village, Karkala Taluk and his neighbour Suresh Shetty (40) were shot at by unknown individuals. The incident occurred between 19:30 hrs and 20:00 hrs., when Bhoja Shetty riding on his own motor cycle along with his neighbour Suresh Shetty stopped the motor cycle in front of his house gate. Bhoja Shetty died on the spot as a consequence of bullet injury and Suresh Shetty sustained grevious injury and died while on the way to hospital. The place in context is a naxalite affected area and investigation needs to be done to establish the naxalite involvement in the incident. Extensive combing operation has been taken up in the place. High security arrangements is in placed for today’s Assembly election with huge deployment of police force.

illegally selling wines seized at Karkala Town

On 15/05/08 at 11:15 hrs., on credible information Sri. M. Venkappa Nayak; PSI, Karkal Town PS and his staff raided a house at Jodukatte, Miyaru village, Karkala. At the time of police party raid accused Harish S/o. Mahabala Poojary, Duggottu, Mudaru village Karkala, kept 192 Mysore Lancer 180ML bottles for the purpose of selling. Accused don't have any licence for this. Police party seized all property worth Rs. 7,680/- and cash Rs. 480/- from the accused. In this connection an excise case has been registered in Karkal Town PS.

HOUSE THEFT AT UDUPI TOWN

In between 14/05/08; 11:55 hrs to 15/05/08 ; 05:00 hrs., some unknown culprits gain entry into the Ammunje Ramananda Nayak's house at Opp. Laxminarayana Temple, Udupi by removing roof tiles and committed theft gold ornaments and mobile sets. Total value of property worth Rs. 24,000/-. In this connection a theft has been registered in Udupi Town PS.

Excise case reported in Karkala Town

A excise case was registered in Karkala Town PS on 14/05/08 at 21:00 hrs. PSI Karkala Town and his staff nabbed a liquor agent by name Gopala. He was the son of Janu and lives near Uchchangi, Kasaba, Karkala. The incident occurred near market Road, Uchchangi, Kasaba village. They sized 144 liquor bottles worth Rs 5040/- from the accused person. This raid is also a part of the special drive being conducted in view of the forthcoming assembly elections.

Road traffic accident - one killed at Otthinane, Byndoor

On 13/05/08 at about 21:30 hrs, near Otthinane, Paduvari village, NH 17, the driver of the lorry bearing registration number RJ 07 G 8099 Jainaram drove his lorry in a rash and negligent manner towards Mangalore. And while overtaking another lorry he lost control over the lorry as a result the lorry turned over resulting which, he succumbed at the spot to the injuries. Byndoor police registered a case in this regard on the complaint of Mullaram, the cleaner of the said lorry.. Investigation is on.

Major road accident, Three succumbed at the spot at Bijoor, Byndoor

In the early morning of 12/05/2008 at about 06:15 hrs, in a head on road collision between a lorry bearing Registration No. KA 31 / 5015 and a Indica car bearing registration No. KA 27 A 748 in NH 17, near Nambiyar Clinic, Bijoor village, Byndoor police station limits, 2 inmates of the car and one inmate of the lorry succumbed to the injuries at the spot. The lorry was plying towards Bhatkal from Kundapura and the car was plying towards Kundapura from Bhatkal . Byndoor police registered a case in this regard on the receipt of complaint lodged by Sri Praveen Achary, Byndoor. Investigation is on.

Excise Case raided by Byndoor Police

On 02/05/08, on credible information, Sri Cheluvaraju PSI, Byndoor PS, along with his staff raided and caught hold of Kuppayya Poojary who was selling illicitly manufactured arrack at Chakatkal of Byndoor Village and seized plastic cans and bottles containing 32 litres of illicit arrack. Today in the early morning Udupi District Police has conducted a route march at two places in Udupi Town and Malpe, to instill confidence among the general public in view of the forthcoming Assembly Elections.
