On 29/04/08 at 14:45 near Hanuman garage, Chitpady, Udupi Smt. Hilen D’souza found one unknown male dead body on her compound well. On the complaint of Smt. Hilen D’souza a unnatural case has been registered in Udupi Town PS. Efforts are on to trace the address of deceased person.

On 28/04/08, Sri Srinivasraj, PI DCIB and his staff arrested Muthappa @ Suresh Balegara aged 25 years, son of Prabhakara Balegara, residing of Baikady, Brahmavara, who committed theft of 2.5 Lakhs of Gold ornaments & Rs-4, 000/- valuing mobile set from Karkala Sanoor. The property is belonging to retired master Bhunjaga Shetty of sanoor village for which a theft case has been registered in Karkala Town PS on 04/04/08. Udupi DCIB team arrested the accused person along with property within 24 days of offence.

One killed in Road Traffic accident

On 28/04/2008 at 17:30 hrs near Vinaya Nursing Home, Voderhobli village, Kundapura, the rider of a Hero Honda motor cycle bearing Reg Number KA 20 S 2950 hit by a Mahindra Pickup vehicale from behind as a result the motorcycle rider received grievous injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the way to Sri Devi Nursing Home. In this connection a case has been registered against the rash and negligent rider of the Mahindra Pickup Van bearing registration number KA 20 A 5236 in Kundapura PS and investigation is on.

Illegally selling liquor seized by Kundapura Police.

On 25/04/08 near Uppinakudru, Kundapura police found one Madhava Mayya S/o Krishna Mayya R/o Uppinakudru, Kundapura selling illegally liquor to public without any permission. The accused person arrested and seized 180 ML, 31 bottle of liquor. In this regard a case has been registered in Kundapura PS.

Illegally carrying sandalwood seized by Kaup Police.

On 25/04/08 at 10:15 hrs PSI Kaup and staff stopped one scooter No KA 20 J 735 while on vehicle checking duty at Pangala. At that time PSI found Mayyaddi and Moidin riders of scoter carrying sandalwood in plastic bag without any permission. The accused persons arrested and seized 2.8 Kg sandalwood and scoter. In this regard a case has been registered in Kaup PS.

On 24/04/08 at 19:30 hrs on credible information PSI Kota and staff raided the spot near Siddhivinayaka jewelers, Achladi village and arrested Jayarama shetty S/o Narayana Shetty R/o Achladi village, Udupi. At the time of police party raid accused was selling liquor to public without any license. PSI Kota seized 180 ML 34 Bottle liquor worth Rs.825/-. On 23/04/08 at 18:15 hrs. on credible information Dy.S.P., Karkala Sri. Girish along with PSI Hebri and his staff raided a shed at Seethanadi Village. At the time of police party raid accused 1) Bhaskar Shetty, 2) Prakash Shetty, 3) Dinakara Poojary, 4) Rathnakar Shetty, 5) Shiva Poojary, 6) Ranga@Ranganath Poojary, 7) Karunakar Shetty, 8) Sachidananda Shetty, 9) Sannayya and 10) Suresh Shetty were playing Andar-Bahar game by betting money. illegally transporting Liquor seized at Santekatte, Udupi

On 21/04/08 at 16:00 hrs when Sri. C R Honawadakar, Police Inspector, Excise & Lottary Prohibition Squad, Udupi together with his staff while on vehicle checking near Santekatte, Udupi asked one Tata Sumo No: KA 20 N 9099 to stop, the driver of that vehicle ran away leaving the vehicle behind in which he was illegally transporting 14 box whisky (each boxes containing 48 bottle) Liquor worth Rs. 25,851.84/-. The police seized that illegally liquor along with the Tata Sumo worth Rs. 4,00,000/-. In that connection a case has been registered in Udupi Town PS.

In between 21/04/08 at 21:30 Hrs to 22/04/08 at 08:00 Hrs some unknown culprits gained entry into the Mobile shop of one Mr. Mithun Shetty at Katapady by breaking open the door lock and committed theft of cell phones 75 Nos, LCD - 04, IPOD-02, and cash Rs 8,500. On 21/04/2008 at 07.10 hrs Annayya Golla Head Constable of Shankarnarayana PS received a phone call regarding illegal transportation of caw for slaughtering. Immediately he & other staff of SNPS rushed Salegadde, Yadamogg Village & stopped the vehicle bearing registration number KA 19 A 5542 & found 19 cows in the vehicle. Which was to be transferred to Kudrali Manglore for Slaughtering. In this connection a case has been registered in Shankaranarayana PS and investigation is under process.

Murder case reported in Hebri PS

Today early in the morning at 5 Cents Janatha Colony, Nadpalu Village, Karkalal Taluk , the accused namely Madhu, who was instigated by Anita teacher & Diwakar Naik to Kill Sanjeeva, so he took Sanjeeva from his house on same setex and attacked him with the sickle on his left thigh & upon his private part. Hence Sanjeeva died on the spot. In this regard a murder case has been registered in Hebri PS and Investigation on.

A matka case was registered in Brahmavara PS on 15/04/08 at 20:00 hrs. PSI Brahmavara and his staff nabbed a matka agent by name Sanjeeva. He was the son of Kanthara and lives near Nejar, Santhekatte, Udupi. The incident occurred near KG Road Junction, Upoor village. They sized cash worth Rs 266/- and matka chits from the accused person. This raid is also a part of the special drive being conducted in view of the forthcoming assembly elections.

Three held for immoral trafficking at Padubidri

Today Girish.S, DySP of Karkala Sub-Division along with Padubidri PSI and his staff took up a credible information and raided room numuber 107 of Ramadeva lodge at Yermal.here they found three persons, Prakash Poojary of Mangalore, Raghunath Shetty of Kaup and Pinki @ Srikala of Belthangadi being involved in offence of immoral trafficking. Dysp karkala and his staff then arrested these three accused and also the manager of Ramadeva Lodge, Raghunath Shetty. In the course of the raid they seized a cash amount of Rs-1145 ,Mobile Phones , the arrival register of Ramadeva lodge , and bed sheets of the particular room.Thus a case has been registered at Padubidri PS under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and further investigation is being carried on.

Today on 13/04/08 at 14:45 PSI Crime, Kundapur and his staff raided a spot near Charkottige at Korgi village.The raid was based on a credible information. At the spot they found one person named Shekar Mogaveera with 180ML whisky bottles worth Rs.3,000/- and seized the same.it was found that he was selling these whisky bottles without the required permission. he is the son of late Ranga Mogaveera, and is resident of of Korgi village. thus in this regard regard Kundapura PS has registered a case .

Cheaters have been arrested by karkala Police

On 11/04/07 at 12:30 hrs, Sri Raghava Padil, PSI Karkal Ruarl and his staff arrested 5 persons, who were handling some bags in their hand consisting of 65 Brass biscuits, 20 stones near Ajekaru bus stand, Marne village, Karkala. During interrogation they confessed that they cheated people by giving the stones by saying as a valuable stones and also giving the Brass biscuits as gold biscuits. In this regard a case has been taken up in Karkal Rural PS by arresting Mohammed Basheer, Samuel Rioyoz, Noorulla, Firooz & Santhosh of Hiriyadaka.

Keduru Gold Dacoity Case Detected

The District Crime Intelligence Bureau, Udupi is successful in nabbing the culprits who had committed dacoity of gold ornaments, motor cycle, mobile phone and cash by attacking Raghavendra Achary and Parameshwara Achary both gold merchants while coming from their shop near Keduru in Kota police station limits on 15/03/08 at 08:45 PM.
The DCIB team under the guidance of Sri.Devajyothi Ray SP, Udupi lead by B.S Srinivas Raj Police Inspector and staff members, Nagesh, Naryana, Satish Ballal, Mahabala Shetty, Uday Kundar, Dinesh Shetty, Vaman, Rathnakar and Manohar Udyavar were successful in arresting the culprits namely 1)Vijaya Bhandary of Keduru 2) Satish of Kodavuru 3) Ganapathi of Chantaru 4) Vijaya mogaveera of Beluru, 5) Sharan shetty of Beluru today and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs.2.5 lakhs, 3 motor cycles, 4 mobile phones.

ILLEGAL QUARRY RAIDED AND EXPLOSIVES SEIZED AT PADOOR

On 10/04/2008, on credible information Sri. Girish S., Dy.S.P. Karkal, Sri. N.C. Ganesh PSI Shirva and his staff made a raid at Padoor Village in Suresh Shetty quarry and found the accused Suresh Shetty and others running a quarry without license and found using explosives without permit. Two Tractors containing compressor, Drilling machine and 30 Detonators was seized from the spot. Accused namely 1) Suresh Shetty, S/o. Late Raju V Shetty, R/o. Arrest of mobile phone thieves in Brahmavara

Today at 13:00 hrs with credible information Sri. Krishnamurthy ASI, Brahmavara PS along with Brahmavara PS staff have arrested 4 persons namely Sandesh Poojary 21yrs S/o Achutta Poojary of Kodavoor Village, Navanith 20 yrs S/o Suresh Karkera of Badanidiyoor Village, Asteen David 21 Yrs S/o Sadanada Mobin of Udupi & Nithesh G.M. S/o Gopal Amin of Kodavoor village, who were selling the mobile sets in suspicious manner in and around Brahmavra Bus Stand.
Police party recovered 17 Mobile hand sets belonging to various brands, 2 sound box, 8 ear phones total worth Rs.46,950/-, and an Auto rickshaw worth Rs- 80,000/-, which was used by the arrested culprits. During interrogation the accused have revealed that, they have stolen these mobile handsets from a mobile shop situated at Malpe Bus Stand. This has helped in solving a case of Malpe PS, which was committed just last night.
This excellent work has been achieved due to the joint effort made by CPI Brahmavara & CPI Udupi.

Counterfeit Currency Seized at Udupi

On 08/04/08 at 22:00 hrs, on credible information Kum. Kalakrishna Swamy Prob. Dy.S.P and her staff arrested two persons namely 1) Yusuf(50), S/o. Abdulla, R/o. Krechith Moole House, Pallathadka Post, Kasargod and 2) Mohammed Asgar(16), S/o. Yusuf, R/o. Krechith Moole House, Pallathadka Post, Kasargod, who are having fake currency notes near Sanskrit College Junction, Udupi. They having 32, 1000 denominating fake currency notes. POLICE FLAG DAY OBSERVED IN UDUPI

Today on 2nd April 2008 at 08:30 a.m., the Police Flag Day was observed amidst a colorful parade in honour of all present serving and retired police personnel of the District. Sri. Y. Venkappa Tholar retired Reserve Police Inspector was the Chief Guest and received the salute at the parade. The parade was also presided over by SP Udupi, , in the presence of Dy.SsP Karkal, Kundapura & Udupi and also the officers and men of the District Police, Retired Police personnel of the district and members of the media.

Cash cheques Rs. 30,000/- were also given to retired police personnel in the form of educational and health assistance to their families.
The S.P. Udupi also listed out the various welfare measures being under taken in the district for the welfare of serving personnel and also retired Police officers. Some of them are:-

e) Awards for children of Police personnel excelling in P.U.C. & S.S.L.C. exams etc.

The Police Flag day is held every year on 2nd of April to highlight the importance of the welfare of both serving as well as retired police personnel for their service. It is also a day when all retired Police personnel are invited to join their old organization in celebration. This year 19 members have retired.

Theft case accused arrested with property

On 29/03/07, Sri PSI Byndoor and his staff arrested Manjunatha Poojary, who was handling a road in his hand to commit some crime near Shale bagilu, Uppunda village, Byndoor. During interrogation he confessed that he and his friend Naveen chandra had committed theft of 3 Pump sets. Total seized property is worth Rs. 9,000/-.
In one more incident on 26/03/07, Sri PSI Byndoor and his staff arrested murthi, who was moving suspiciously near Byndoor. During interrogation he confessed that he and his friends Ravindra Shanbog & Praveen Poojary had committed theft of Cashew net bags from Kakthota Dodmane, Ulkuru. They also committed theft of an Auto Rickshaw from Koiya village, Navunda, Total seized property is worth Rs. 96,000/-.

Motorcycle rider Killed in a Road Traffic accident

Today on 01/04/2008 at 11:00 hrs, near Mavinakatte, Nadalike Village, Karkala, the rider of motorcycle named Raghunath Rao riding his bike bearing Reg No. KA-20 J-5158, hit by a bus bearing Reg No.KA-19 A-9863. The driver of the bus drove his bus in rash & negligent manner and fatally knocked down the motorcycle. The rider of the motorcycle got serious injuries and succumbed on the way to hospital. In this regard a case has been registered in Karkala Rural PS and investigation is on.
