Surendra Bovi will be honored with Chief Minister‘s Medal-2007

Sri. Surendra Bovi, Working as Armed Police Constable No.1512, District Armed Reserve, Udupi District since 16/09/2002 is recommended by the Govt. of Karnataka for the award of Chief Minister‘s Medal-2007 on the occasion of Police Flag Day on 02/04/2008 and will be honored for his Excellent work shows in Naxalite Operation & Devarabalu Encounter which occurred on 23/06/2005 in the limits of Shankaranarayana Police Station Udupi District. On the above incident two Naxal leaders were killed. In this regard a criminal case in Shankaranarayana Police Station was registered under Cr.No.73/2005. Different weapons & huge ammunitions with explosives were recovered at the spot.

The excellent work done by Sri. Surendra Bovi is recognized by State Govt. & also appreciated by Udupi District Police.

Theft case registered at Udupi Town PS

On in-between 29/03/08 17:30 hrs to 30/03/08 17:30 hrs some unknown culprits gained entry by braking the house door of Sri.Rashid Amanulla. Which is located at Gopalpura, Santhekatte, Udupi. And committed the theft of gold ornaments of worth Rs.4,00,000/-. In this regard a theft case has been registered in Udupi Town PS and investigation is on.

Girl missing from Kollur

Miss. Hema aged about 18 years went to do her routine work in a Cashew Factory at Kollur and did not return back to home and found missing. On the complaint her mother, a missing case has been registered at Kollur Police station.

Two killed on road traffic accident at Banabettu, Brahmavara.

On 26/03/08 at 15:30 hrs near Banabettu, Havanje village, Brahmavara, Venkatesh the driver of Goods Tempo No KA-14-6889 drove his Tempo in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against to Motor Cycle No. KA-17-V-2197. As a result Motor Cycle rider Sri.Shekar and pillion rider his daughter by name Nishmita(10) died on the spot, and another pillion rider Sri.Shekar’s wife Smt.Prema sustained injuries and admitted to Hi-Tech Hospital Udupi for treatment. On the complaint of Sri.Jayakara a case has been registered in Brahmavar PS.

One killed in Road Accident at Manipal

On 25/03/08 at 20:00 hrs near Parkala High School, Herga Village. The Ananda Shetty driver of Lorry No KA 20-1546 drove his lorry in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against to Motor Cycle No. KA-20-K-9578. As a result Motor Cycle rider Ramesh Prabhu injured seriously and died on the spot. In this regard a case has been registered in Manipal PS.

One killed in road accident at Udyavara

On 25/03/08 at 19:30 hrs on N.H 17, near Bolje junction, Udyavara Village the driver of Bus No KA 20-A-9702 drove his bus in a rash and negligent manner and dashed to one pedestrian Sri. Damodhar. As a result Sri.Damodhar injured seriously and died while shifting to hospital. In this regard a case has been registered in Kaup PS.

Robbery case reported in Brahmavara

On 25/03/08 at 16:00 hrs, Two unknown persons came in a motor cycle and robbed the Karimani Chain worth Rs- 30,000/- of Smt.Padmakshi who was walking on the road towards her house located near Ammunje Malikere cross, Kenjoor village. In this regard a robbery case has been registered in Brahmavar PS. Efforts are on to trace the culprits along with property.

VEHICLE THIEVES ARRESTED AT HIRIYADKA

On 24/03/2008 early morning Hiriyadka Police Station PSI Sri. Mahesh Prasad and staff seized

without number plate one Maruthi Omni and one Maruthi Car on vehicle checking at Kotnakatte Hiriyadka. While searching the vehicle, 4 computers were found, these are taken to Shimoga for selling. Later on investigation, accused 1) Ravi Jathanna (29) R/o Kannarpady Udupi 2) Naveen

D’Souza(29), Belmannu, Karkala 3) Kammarady Thavab(22), Thirthalli Shimoga 4) Ramesh Poojary(28), Gadikallu, Koppa, 5) Santhosh Sherigara(24), Ellur, Padubidri and 6) Darwin Kairana(34), Hubli confessed that they committed theft of 3 Maruthi 800 Car, one Maruthi Omni and 2 Motor Cycles from Udupi surroundings and 1 Motor Cycle from Bhadravathi. And also they committed theft 4 computers from Hirekodagi High School, Koppa Taluk, Chikamagalure District. Three Cars, 2 Motorcycles and 4 Computers were seized from the accused. Total seized property worth Rs. 3,05,000/-. One Car, One Motor Cycle, Silver ornaments and brass vessels yet to be seize. Accused persons are involved in several criminal cases at Udupi, Chikamagalure, Koppa and others places. In this connection a case has been registered in Hiriyaka Police station.

That on 20/03/08 at about 13:30 hrs the accused rider of Motor cycle regd no KA 20 S 8686, Drove the said vehicle in rash and negligence manner from Padumundu cross and dashed against the complainant, while complainant walking aside of road near house of Dinesh Shetty at Shiriyara village. Result of which complainant fell on road and sustained injuries and admitted as inpatient at Chinmyi Hospital, Kundapura. In this connection a case has been registered at Kota PS

That on 20/03/08 at about 13:00 hrs the accused driver of Bus regd no KA 20 3710 , Drove the said vehicle in rash and negligence manner from Saibarkatte and dashed against the Mr.Srinidhi , while he was standing aside of road with Motor cycle Regd No KA 20 J 7697 near house of Upladi Raghuram Shetty of Bannadi village., Result of which Srinidhi fell on road with motor cycle and sustained injuries and took him to N.R Acharya Hospital , Koteshwara and took him to K.M.C Manipal for higher treatment. Sandalwood seized in a Illegally transportating cattle Vehicale

On 18/03/2008 at about 05:00 Hrs, Mr. Chandrashekar Achari got some information that some unknown persons transporting cattle for Slaughtering purpose, So he & his friends stoped the vehicale bearing registration number KA-20 A 5339 near Badakere, Sheriyara. While trying to escape from the spot the goods pickup vehicale collused between a tree and 3 unknown persons ran away from the vehicale. So they left the vehicale along with 2 cattels, which are transported for Slaughtering purpose. While making tharrow check of the vehicale it was found that a bag of 5.45 grams Sandalwood pieces & a Metal road was Siezed along with Tempo. The Cows were rescued and a case has been registered in Kota P.S.

Robbery case registered at Kota

On 15/03/2008 at 08:45:hrs, Mr. Raghavendra Achari was on his way to home after finishing his daily routine work of Jewellery making. He was on his way with his friend in a discovery Motor cycle bearing Reg No KA-20-V-6493. While approaching Shanady road, 100 meters far away from Kedoor bridge. Some unknown persons stopped his vehicle and threw some chilly powder to his eyes. Then they had beaten both of them through wooden stick. Hence they robbed the gold ornaments consisting of 3 Pawan Gold chain, 50 gm gold biscuit, 1 K.G Silver leg chain along with Rs- 17 thousand cash and 7 thousand Rs cheque leaf. The motorcycle of Raghavendra Achari & his mobile set is also robbed by the culprits. The wounded Raghavendra Achari & his friend were admitted to N.R Acharya hospital for treatment. In this connection a robbery case has been registered in Kota P.S and investigation is on to trace the culprits along with property.

Pedestrian killed in road accident

On March 2008 at 08:5hrs. near Perdoor village Perdoor Busstand, the driver of a Bus bearing registration numbered KA 20 B 7373, dashed against a padestrain named Sri. Shankar Madival aged about 57 years of Perdoor. As a result pedestrian was died on spot. In this connection a case has been registered against the rash and negligent driver of the Bus in Hiriyadka PS and investigation is on.

On 14/03/08 at 09:50 hrs, driver of a Motor Cycle bearing Registration Number KA 20 S 6073, dashed against one female 30 to 35 year old unknown pedestrian near Annekere, Kasaba vllage, Karkala. While the pedestrian Srinivasa Nayak, Valakadu, Udupi was in his morning walk. The pedestrian later succumbed to his injury in KMC hospital. On credible confidential information, a joint operation was conducted by Udupi District Police and Udupi units of Anti Naxalite Force today on 7/3/08 at Kudlu, Megadde and Hebri areas. The operation has been partially successful as it has lead to the arrest of 8 associates of Naxalites namely as follows:
1. Suresh Gowda (32) S/o Late Muthappa Gowda R/o Kudlumane, Kudlu, Nadapala Village.
2. Anand Gowda (60) S/o Late Shesha Gowda R/o Gajanana Nilaya, Ajjolli, Nadapalu Village.
3. Kempe Gowda (40) S/o Shesha Gowda R/o Deeranabailu, Kudlu, Nadapalu Village.
4. Satish Shetty (29) S/o Late Raghava Shetty R/o Megadde Nilaya, Megadde, Kudlu, Nadapalu Village.
5. Kariya Gowda (65) S/o Late Shesha Gowda R/o Durga Kripa, Kudlu, Nadapalu Village.
6. Krishnappa Gowda (30) S/o Kariya Gowda R/o Durga Kripa, Kudlu, Nadapalu Village.
7. Dayananda Gowda (30) S/o Anada Gowda R/o Seethanadi, Nadapalu village.
8. Sudhakar Shetty (28) S/o Sadhu Shetty, Ajjolli, Nadapala Village.

The above persons were involved in supplying explosives, weapons, food material and other materials to the Naxalites. It has been found that a few of them have participated in a meeting with Naxalites, where a conspiracy to loot the premises of some persons in Udupi district was hatched. A programme to blast some important areas was also planned.

During the operation, police has seized a large cache of explosive and dangerous substances as follows:
1). Two Explosive Gelatin Sticks
2). 30- Detonators
3). One SBML Gun
4). One Motor cycle used to carry men and material to naxalites.
5). Packing materials
6). Pamphlets printed under the name of CPI(Maoist).
7). One Red flag bearing the name of the organization

A case in Cr No- 24/08 U/s 10(1)(B) & 13(B) of Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act & Sec. 4 & 5 of Explosive Substances Act & Sec. 3 & 25 of Indian Arms Act & Sec. 399, 400 of IPC has also been registered. Investigation is being continued.

This raid proves that a set of people in Udupi district are involving in very dangerous activities which can endanger the lives of many. Handing over explosives to naxalites and terrorists is a very dangerous and irresponsible act, which we should all oppose. Any information about such persons or such activities will go a long way in securing the lives of people. It is our appeal that, people should stay away from such activities and help police in providing everyone a safe environment. Such information will also be rewarded suitably.

Matka rided at Kundapur

On 06/3/2008 at 19:0, on credible information Kundapur Sub-Inspector Sri Tharanath and his staff raid near Kandloor busstand kandloor village, Kundapura . At the time of Police party raid accused Jayarama who was collecting money from public for betting money on Matka. Accused arrested and Rs. 350/-,Matka chits were seized.

Gambling ride at Kundapur

On 06/03/08 on credible information, Sri Jayanth M, PSI Kundapur along with his staff raided a public place at Gandi Maidan Kundapura Kasaba Villge, Kundapur Taluk , where the accused persons namely 1) Ashok Kumar Shetty, 2) Abdhul Hameed, 3) Manoranjan Hegde, 4) Nagu Poojary and 5) Sujay Hegde were found playing "Andar-bahar". By arresting them, the police team seized cash of Rs. 3000/- and 52 cards which were used for the purpose of playing "Andar-bahar". Kundapur police registered a case in this regard

Accidental Death at Kota

That on 05/03/2008 about 19:00 at Hebbarbettu of Shiriyara Village , the person by name Soma Marakala while he was walking on the way to his house near Billady Muttayya Shetty field, by that time accidentally he touched the fence of the paddy field which the fence was connected with power supply for prevent the wild animals. As a result the said Soma Marakala died on the spot due to current shock.

One killed in Road Traffic Accident at Karkala

On 06/03/2008 at 11:30 hrs. near Banglegudde, Kervashe village, Kervshe-Shirlalu road of Karkala Taluk, the rider of a Bajaj M-80 bearing numbered KA 20 Q 8037, dashed against Motorcycle K.A 20 K-2066. As a result Motorcycle rider received grievous hurt and succumbed to his injuries on the way to the Karkala Govt Hospital. In this connection a case has been registered against the rash and negligent rider of the Bajaj M-80 in Karkala Rural P.S and investigation is on.

INTER STATE THIEVES ARRESTED BY BRAHMVAR POLICE

On 28/02/2008 at 14:00 hrs., Sri. Sunil Kumar, PSI, Brahmvara PS and his staff were arrested 4 persons namely 1) Rathan Panduranga Pawar (40), S/o. Panduranga Pawar, Dongar Shalki, Udgir Taluk, Lathor District , Maharastra State, 2) Ajay Seetharam Rathod @ Rahul(22), S/o. Seetharam Rathod, Vasanth Nagar, Ranapur Taluk, Lathor District, Maharastra State, 3) Suresh Rathan Pawar (21), S/o. Rathan Panduranga Pawar, Dongar Shalki, Udgir Taluk, Lathor District , Maharastra State and 4) Vilas Rathan Pawar(18), S/o. Rathan Panduranga Pawar, Dongar Shalki, Udgir Taluk, Lathor District, Maharastra State, who were suspecialy moving around near Sri. Durgaparameshwari Temple, Jarige Hithlu, Kumragodu and Silver articles, one humor, one screwdriver and 6 hacksaw blades are seized from them. On interrogation they revealed that they committed several theft in Udupi district. They theft 1566.020 Grms. Silver items value of Rs. 44,282/- from Sasthan Jewellery shop, 310.950 Grms. Silver items value of Rs. 8,395.65 from Shiroor Jewellery shop and 965.800 Grms. Silver items value of Rs. 26,076.60 from Kambhadakone Jewellery shop. Total 2842.77 Grms. Silver items value of Rs. 78,714.25, one Gold weighing scale and 5 weighing stones were seized from Vasanth Nagar, Ranapur Taluk, Lathor District, Maharastra State. In this connection a case has been registered in Brahmavara PS and the accused are handed over to court.

Fatal Road Accidents

On 28/02/2008 at 23:30 hrs, on Kudremukh - Padubidre road a rickshaw tempo driver drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and capsized near Matadakere and fell down to 15 feat deep. As a result one Alimamma(40) was died. In this connection an accident case has been registered in Karkal Town PS.

On 29/02/2008 at 21:00 hrs., on N.H. 17, Othinane, Paduvari, Byndoor a Mahindra Tracker bearing No. KA 29-4450 driver drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and taking his vehicle far left of the road. In this cause the said vehicle capsized. As a result driver Raju(30) and passenger Manju(45) died on the spot. In this connection an accident case has been registered in Byndoor PS.
