culprits arrested along with 5 lakhs property

On 29/02/2008 early morning DCIB,Udupi Inspector Sri C.E Thimmayya and staff while on rounds 2 persons were taken into custody namely Rakim (23) S/o Abdul Saheb R/o Katipalla, Surathkal and Abobhakar (25) S/o Abdul Bayri R/o Gulvadi, Kundapura who were wandering in a suspicious manner holding a bag in their hand at Katpady Junction, Katpady, Udupi. During interrogation they disclosed that they and other 8 persons namely Razak Belapu, Faizal Pakirnakatte, Razak, Sadik, Addu, Gafoor, Arif & moidin were involved in several theft cases in Kundapura, Hemady, Karki & Shiriyara village surroundings of Udupi district.
In 2003 they robbed 2 drums of Electric Stay wires from Hemady, In the year of 2007 from mahima tile factory Karki village they robbed Electric pumps, welding Machines & Drilling machines, In the same year they robbed copper rood from Kalmargi Hardware, Siriyara. Total property valuing Rs. 5,00,000/- were recovered from both the accused persons. They police are in hunt of nabbing the other accused persons who were involved in the case.

Gambling raid at kota

On 27/02/08 on credible information, Sri Manjunatha, PSI Kota along with his staff raided a public place at Thekkatte near Shrangaramane Hotel, where the accused persons namely 1) Raghavendra, 2) Jaya, 3) Asif, 4) Manzoor and 5) Imthiyaz were found playing "Andar-bahar". By arresting them, the police team seized cash of Rs. 410/- and 52 cards which were used for the purpose of playing "Andar-bahar". Kota police registered a case in this regard.

Matka raid at Kota

On 27/02/2008 at 09:00, on credible information Kota Sub-Inspector Sri Manjunatha Nayak and his staff raid at Thekkate near Bramhasthana . At the time of Police party raid accused Krishna Poojary was collecting money from public for betting money on Matka. Accused arrested and Rs. 245/-,Matka chits were seized.

Muder case detected in Padubidri

On 19/02/08 a unidentified male dead body aged about 40-45 years was found in Bada Yermal Village coming under Padubidri P.S limits. After the postmortem it was revealed that the dead person died because of head injury due to blunt force on the head. Based on this a case of murder is registered in Padubidri P.S. Cr.No. 19/08 U/s 302 IPC and during the investigation it was found that 3 persons namely 1) Edward D’souza 2) Vincent D’souza 3) Suresh Devadiga had beaten the deceased with wooden stick on his head thinking him to be a thief, due to which the deceased died instantly. The deceased is identified as Ramesh Naik S/o Ponkra Naik Age: 49, R/o Kundelumane, Kunjibettu, Udupi. All the 3 accused persons have been arrested and send to Judicial Custody.

Matka raided at Kaup

On 27/02/2008 at 16:35, on credible information Kaup Sub-Inspector Sri Shivanand Valikar and his staff raid near Majoor Bus stop Majoor Village. At the time of Police party raid accused Shreedhara Suvarna was collecting money from public for betting money on Matka. Accused arrested and Rs. 350/-,Matka chits were seized.

Robbery case at Kaup limits

On 25/02/2008 at about 20:30 hrs., Near petrol bunk, Katapady, Yenagudde, Kaup, one accused Arif snatched Rs. 10,000/- from one Shivarama Nayak who was walking towards his vehicle. when he and some other people chased, the accused tumbled and fell down and got himself injured and Shivaram Nayak got back his money . In this connection a robbery case has been registered in Kaup PS.

Murder case traced by Udupi Police

On 04/02/2008 at about 09:00 AM a dead body of a male, aged between 35 to 40 yrs with injuries was found floating in Sita River near Mabukalla Bridge and a case U/s 174 CrPC was taken up. During investigation the injuries were confirmed to be stab injuries and a case U/s 302 IPC was registered.
Efforts were made to trace the identity of the deceased and the accused by publishing in newspapers and TV channels. The body was kept in the cold storage at Kundapura Government Hospital up to 18/02/08 and then it was buried.
On 24/02/08 Bombay Police attached to J.J.Marg Police Station appeared at Kota PS with details of a abduction case registered in their PS. According to them one Badar Ali of Bombay, driver of Innova car No- MH-42 D-3572 was abducted along with the said car. They identified the photographs of the deceased as the ones of the person abducted.
On investigation it was found that one Farhan of Bombay along with his friend Deepak of Uttar Pradesh hired the said car on 29/01/08 on the pretext of going on a tour to Poona, Mahabaleshwar, Bangalore, Mangalore, Udupi and back. On 03/02/08 they reached Udupi, went to Karkala contacted Farhan`s friends Sheik Imran and Shakib. They halted at one of the lodges near Brahmavara. On 04/02/08 all of them left towards Bombay. When they approached Mabukala Bridge, they stopped the car. Farhan, Imran and Shakib stabbed the driver Badar Ali and later on threw the body into Sita river, came back to karkalla, left Imran and Shakib there and escaped to Bombay. The motive behind the murder being that the driver Badar Ali`s brother had attacked Farhan`s brother some time earlier at Bombay.
A Special Police team lead by B.P. Dinesh Kumar, CPI Brahmavara, Sunil Kumar PSI Brahmavara, Manjunatha Nayak, PSI Kota, B.S. Sathish, PSI Karkala with staff was formed who arrested Sheik Imran and Shakib at Karkala on 25/02/08.

On 22/02/2008 at 19:30, on credible information Udupi DCIB Inspector Sri Thimmaiah and his staff raid near old arrack shop building, Paduthonse, Kemmannu. At the time of Police party raid accused Vijay Kumar of Kodavoor was collecting money from public for betting money on Matka. Accused arrested and Rs. 515/-,Matka chits were seized.

WOMEN MISSING AT BRAHMAVARA

On 22/02/08 at 09:45hrs one Smt. Philomina Lewis went to Computer Training at Brahmavara and did not return back to home and found missing. On the complaint his brother-in-law Mr.Joseph Lewis, a missing case has been registered at Brahmavara Police station.

Matka raids

On 22/02/2008 at 18:30 hrs on credible information, Padubidri Police Sub-Inspector Sri. Naveenchandra Jogi and his staff raided a place in Tenka Yermal village, near Bus stand, At the time of police raid the accused Astin was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. Accused Astin was arrested and an amount of Rs 211/- was seized along with matka chits.
On 22/02/2008 at 17:20 hrs on credible information, Kaup Police Sub-Inspector Sri. Shivananda Valikar and his staff raided a place in Udyavara village near Bus stand, At the time of police raid the accused Alvin Kunder was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. Accused Alwin Kunder was arrested and an amount of Rs 281/- was seized along with matka chits.

On 22/02/2008 at 18:45 hrs on credible information, Udupi Town Police Sub-Inspector Sri. Prakash B.S and his staff raided a place near Karavali Bypass , At the time of police raid the accused Joseph Dayas was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. Accused Joseph Dayas was arrested and an amount of Rs 327/- was seized along with matka chits.

Two Motor Cycle recovered at Hebri Ps

On 20/02/2008, Hebri Police received information regarding one unknown bike found in the forest area near Siddapura of Shanakarnarayana PS limits. On investigation it is came to know that said bike bearing No. KA-20/R-7155 Hero Honda Passion was stolen in Hebri PS Cr. No. 13/08 on 12/02/08. Property seized from the spot.

Another information received regarding one bike bearing No KA-20/S-9505 TVS STAR Sport Bike suspiciously parked near Forest Guard Quarters area, Muniyalu village. This bike involved in Hebri PS Cr No. 12/08 on 08/02/08, which was stolen from Near P. U. College, Muniyalu.

3-killed in Road -Traffic accident in Brahmavara

Today at 06:30 hrs, near Akashavani Junction Brahmavara, Udupi, a lorry bearing registration number MH-12 DG-3845 and a Two wheeler motor cycle bearing registration number KA-06 U-1492 met up with an accident, while the driver of lorry came in wrong side of the circle & hit to the motor cycle, and passed his vehicle over the body of 12 year old Adarsh Shetty, who was the pillion rider of the motor cycle. Due to serious
injuries the rider of the bike Karnauakara Shetty died on the spot. One more pillion rider Savithri succumbed on the way to the hospital, Suhan a small 3-year-old kid also got some minor injuries & admitted to the hospital.
Both Lorry & motorcycle were seized. The further information can get from Brahmavara PS.
In this case 4 persons were traveling in a one bike, in which 2 persons can be travel. We appeal to the public to avoid such reckless driving and the same incident would not be repeated.

Student killed in Road-traffic accident

On 19/02/08 at 10-00 hrs, a driver of TATA Sumo Vehicle bearing No KA 20 B 1721 vehicle capsized near Kokkarne city on group of people who were participating in a procession of TCH students. Pedestrian killed in Road Traffic accident

On 19/02/08 at 20-00 to 21-00 hrs, One unknown vehicle dashed against one male pedestrian in N.H 17 Akala Bailu Kirimanjeshwara Village Kundapura and escaped from the spot. House breaking thief arrested by Brahmavara Police

On 20/02/2008 at 09:00 hrs, Sri. Sunil Kumar, PSI. Brahmavara and his staff arrested one Krishna Murthy Achari @ Murthy Achary(29), S/o. Late Basava Achary, Kallugudde, Agrahara village, Konandoor, Thirthahalli, who was suspiciously moving around near Brahmavara Akashvani. On interrogation he revealed that; on 13/02/2008 he had broke-opened a house near Hosala village, Belthakere and committed theft of gold ornaments and cash, The same case was already registered in Brahmavara PS Cr. No. 27/08. The police party seized Gold ornaments, Silver ornaments and one Nokia mobile from accused. Total seized property worth Rs. 30,600/-.

In between 05/02/08 10:00 hrs to 06/02/08 08:30 hrs, some unknown culprits committed the theft of TVS Suzuki motor cycle bering registration No. KA 20 J 3230. which was parked in front of Laxmi store, Belman village, Karkala. On the complaint of Sri. Ramananda Moolya a case has been registered at Karkal Ruaral PS. Efforts are on to trace the culprits and motor cycle.

Arrest of mobile phone thieves

On 04/02/08 PSI Crime Udupi Town Sri. Dharmakar Dharmatti and his staff have arrested two persons namely Sukesh of Neelavara Village, Udupi and Johnson of Udyavara Village, Udupi and recovered from them the total of 12 Mobile hand sets belonging to various brands worth Rs.27,000/-. During interrogation the accused have revealed that they have stolen these mobile handsets in and around Udupi. The following are the details of the recovered handsets.

Poacher arrested in Karkala


On 05/02/08 Sri.M.S Prakash Special Police, Forest Squad Manglore, on credible information arrested a person by name Narayana Shervegar of Kinyalaguttu of Shirlalu village, Karkala. The accused had illegally killed a wild pig weighing around 50 Kg in the Shirlalu forest area with his licensed S.B.B.L rifle. He was found selling the flesh of the killed wild pig for money. One S.B.B.L rifle, ammunitions, gun powder, knife, and one Kg flesh of the wild pig was recovered, and a case has been registered in Karkala Rural PS Crime No 14/08 U/s 9, 39, 44, 49(b)(c) ,50 R/w 51 Wild life Protection Act 1972 and U/s 25 Indian Arms Act.

Car theft in Kaup PS limits

In between 06/02/2008 19:45 hrs & 07/02/2008 09:20 hrs, some unknown culprits committed theft of one Maruthi –800 car, which was parked infront of the complainent house, Udayavara, Udupi bearing Reg No- KA-02 M-7479, white colored, valuing Rs- 50,000/-. In this connection a theft case has been registered in Kaup PS and investigation is on trace the property.

Boy missing in Byndoor

On 05/02/08 at 09:00 hrs one Shanmuka (15 yrs) went to Byndoor high school from Byndoor hostel and didn't return back to hostel and found missing. In this regard a boy missing case has been registered in Byndoor Police station. Efforts are on to trace the missing boy.

Cow slaughters being nabbed

On 02/02/08 night, the activists of Shri Rama Sena, Udupi have caught an auto rikshaw bearing No.KA - 20/A - 1305 near Mandovi Palace, Manipal in which flesh of cow was being transported from Putturu to Saralabettu by the accused namely Uday, Prashant, Madhav, Surendra. On the complaint of Mr.Mohan Bhat, an activist of Shri Rama Sena, Udupi a case has been registered in Manipal PS Cr No. 34/08 U/s 4, 5, 11 Mysore Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964. All the four accused has been arrested along with the flesh of cow and sent to judicial custody till 05/03/08. During interrogation the accused have revealed that they have slaughtered a calf in the house of one Uday in Kudmal Ranga Rao Nagara, Putturu.

House Break Theft offenders nabbed by Karkala Police


On 28/01/08 the Karkala Rural Police on receiving a credible information arrested 1) Venkatesh 2) Kumara @ Kumara Swamy 3) Suresh @ Kapi 4) Ramesh in Belman Village and have recovered 14 gm of gold and 40 kg of burnt copper wire. In this connection a case has been registered in Karkala Rural Police station in Crime No. 10/08 U/s 41(1)(d) CRPC and U/s 379 IPC. During the course of interrogation they have revealed that prior to this they have committed theft in two houses, one school in Mundkuru village. where they have made away with gold ornaments, radio, utensils etc. And have partially distributed this stolen property among themselves and they have given the remaining gold ornaments to a gold dealer at Manjeshwara. Acting swiftly on this information CPI Karkala Sri. Putteswamy Gowda, PSI Karkala Rural Sri. Sathish and staff rushed to Manjeshwara and recovered 200 gms of gold worth Rs.2,16,000/- from one Sahadev Sooryvamshi owner of Priya Gold Covering shop and recovered 186 gms of gold worth Rs.2,01,980/- from the house of accused Venkatesh at Shivamogga. The total amount of gold recovered is 472 gms worth Rs.5,20,240/-. All the arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody.

The work done by the above officers and men is commendable and highly appreciable.
