Absconding accused arrested by Hiriyadka Police

On 29/06/2007, Sri Mahesh Prasad, PSI Hiriyadka and his staff Sri Panduranga Naik, Devaraj, Naresh and Chandrahasa arrested one Vinaya Kumar S/o Abraham, Rama Mestri Compound, Barke, Mangalore at Barke, Mangalore and produced before the hon’ble court. Court has sentenced him judicial custody up to 13/07/07. He is said to be absconding since 1998. Hiriyadka police arrested him in an assault case of 1990. He also involved in several grave crimes around the neighbouring districts.

Matka raid by Kaup Police

On 28/06/2007 at 14:50 hrs on credible information, PSIKaup, Sri. Shivananda Valekar and his staff raided a place in Yenagudde village near Katpady Bus Stand. At the time of police raid the accused Rathnakara Shetty of Neelavara village was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. In another raid at 18:30 hrs in Mallar village near Pakeernakatte Bus Stand the accused Soorya, Mallar village was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. In both the incidents, the accused persons were arrested and a total amount of Rs 275/- was seized along with matka chits from the accused persons. In these connections matka cases have been registered in Kaup PS and investigation is on.

One Killed in Road Accident near Hiriyadka

On 28/06/2007 at 18:00 hrs in a road accident between bus bearing registration no KA 29 F 835 and a Maruti- 1000 car bearing registration no KA 20 N 812, at Gudde Angandi near Hiriyadka Smt. Indira Acharya 45 yrs died while shifting to the hospital and two other persons sustained simple injuries. In this connection a case has been registered against the bus driver in crime no. 76/07 U/s 279, 337, 304 (A) IPC at Hiriyadka PS.

Matka raid by DCIB Police

On 27/06/2007 at 16:50 hrs on credible information, DCIB Inspector Sri. C.E. Thimmaiah and his staff raided a place in Perdoor village near Shivagiri complex, At the time of police raid the accused Santhosh Poojary was found collecting money from the public for betting on matka. Accused Santhosh Poojary was arrested and an amount of Rs 330/- was seized along with matka chits from the accused. In this connection a Matka case is registered in Hiriyadka PS and investigation is on.

Illegal transportation of cows for slaughtering under Malpe PS limits

On 26/06/2007 at about 02:30 Hrs, Sri H.D. Kulakarni, PSI Malpe and his staff while on night rounds, intercepted one vehicle illegally transporting 7 cows, at Paniyadi, Malpe in a Pickup Vehicle bearing registration number KA-20 A 8489. As the accused fled from the scene, it is suspected that the cows were illegally being transported for slaughtering. The cows were thus rescued. In this connection a case has been registered in Malpe PS. The accused are still absconding. Efforts are on to trace them.

On 24/06/2007, Sri Panduranga Naik, Devaraj and Naresh of Hiriyadka Police Station staff arrested one T.N.Hussainabba S/o T.N.Ahammed, Nadumane, Jokatte, Mangalore at Surathkal, Mangalore. He is said to be absconding since 2003 involving 3 crimes and forging bus records.

Gambling Raid at Kundapura By DCIB Police

On 22/06/2007 DCIB ASI Sri. Sudhakar Thonse and his staff raided a place near Senapura, Kundapura Taluk. Wherein the accused persons named 1)Krishna Devadiga 2) Narasimha 3) Sheena Achari 4) Vishwanatha Shetty were found playing “Andar-Bahar The accused persons were arrested and an amount of Rs. 2125/- was seized along with playing cards. In this connection a case has been registered in Gangolli PS and investigation is under process.

Gambling raid by Karkala police

On the night of 21-06-2007 Police team consisting of Karkala Rural PSI Mr. Sathish and other Police staff have raided a gambling den at the house of one Ashok Shetty near Bangalegudde, Karkala Town and arrested 9 persons who were indulging in gambling activity in the night at around 21:30 hrs. The police have seized Rs 5, 575/ cash, playing cards and other things. In this connection a case has been registered at Karkala Town P. S. in crime no. 100/07 U/s 80 of K.P. Act against Ashok Shetty and eight others.

Missing case registered in Manipal

On the midnight of 19/06/07, a lady by name Smt. Deepa aged about 30 yrs, of Rajeeva Nagar, Alevoor, 80-Badgubettu, Udupi, left her house without informing anyone while her husband is in deep sleep and did not return back to home after searching in & around of all the close relatives house a girl missing case has been registered in Manipal P.S Cr. No. 93/07 U/s girl missing on the complaint of her husband Ambu, Rajeeva nagar, 80-Badgubettu Village, Udupi and the case is under investigation.

Pedestrian killed in Road Traffic accident

On 20/06/2007 at 04:40 Hrs, near Laxmi Sabha Bhavana, Udupi the accused unknown driver of a unknown vehicle drove his vehicle in rash & negligent manner and dashed against a unknown male pedestrian aged about 50 to 55 years. As a result pedestrian got serious injuries & died at the spot. In this connection a case has been registered in Udupi Town PS and steps are on to catch the accused vehicle with his driver.

Pedestrian killed in road traffic accident at Brahmavara

That on 18/06/2007, at about 21:45 Hrs the driver of an unknown vehicle drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner at NH 17 near Holy Family Church , Chanthar village, Brahmavara and dashed against pedestrian by name Francis D’souza aged about 50 years of Havanje village. As a result the said Francis D'souza sustained grevious injuries and died in the spot. In this connection a case has been registered at Brahmavar police station. Efforts are on to trace the culprit and the vehicle.

Gambling Raid: Thirteen Arrested, Rs-23,130 Seized.

One Killed in road traffic accident at Udupi

Rear end collision – 2 persons killed at Udupi

On the night of 16/06/2007, the driver of lorry bearing registration No. KA 25 B 1098 parked his vehicle on NH 17, near ABCO Steel, Ambalpady, Udupi without putting indicator or light. At about 05:00 hrs on 17/06/2007, Sri Faizal, the rider of motorcycle bearing registration No. KA 20 E 8809 who was coming from Kundapura towards Udupi along with pillion rider Sri Imthiyaz, due to insufficiency of light, unknowingly dashed to the lorry. As a result both got fatal injuries on the spot. A case has been registered by Udupi Town police in this regard against the lorry driver and the case in under investigation.

Total worth Rs/- 57,000/- In this connection a theft case has been registered in Maipal PS Cr. No. 88/07 U/s 454,380 IPC and investigation is on to trace

House theft reported at Manipal

On 12/06/2007, in between 09:30 hrs to 13:30 hrs, some unknown culprits gained entry into a house located at HIG 23, "Govinda", Anantha Nagar, Shivalli village, Manipal by opening the door lock using door key which was usually kept on the table inside the house near the window and committed theft of gold ornaments and ATM cards. Total worth of Rs. 57000/- was stolen. A theft case has been recorded by Manipal on the complaint of Kanchana Surendra and case is under investigtion. Efforts are on to trace the property and the culprits.

Sadist husband kills his wife at Manipal

On 12/06/07 at 11:00 hrs one Basavaraja S/o Yallappa, Simikeri, Layadagundi, Badami Taluk, Bagalkot District appeared to Manipal police station and alleged that at 12:00 Hrs his brother-in-law Rudrappa Gowda by assuring Basavaraja and Smt. Gauravva W/o Rudrappa Gowda to get a new work, went to Manipal from Ambagilu, Udupi. Near Kunthala Kadu, Shivalli village Rudrappa Gowda told Basavaraja to sit there only. Then after Rudrappa Gowda & and his wife Smt. Gauravva went down side the forest area. But upto 1600 hrs they doesn’t returned back. Then Basavaraja returned to his home. At 2100 hrs Rudrappa Gowda alone came to home. While on deep questioning, Rudrappa Gowda confessed that he has murdered his wife and hide the dead body with leaves near Kunthala Kadu due to he suspected that his wife has illegal relationship with others. He also threat Basavaraja, that he will be murdered if he leak out the murder. A murder case has been registered in Manipal in this regard and the case is under investigation.

Thimmayya along with his DCIB staff at various public places in Kota PS limits, On 10/06/2007 at 11:00 hrs near Saligrama Bus Stand, Udupi Taluk, wherein the accused Padmanabha Bhat aged 28 years, Koteshwara was arrested and seized cash worth Rs. 530/-. At 12:10 hrs, near Saligrama fish Market wherein the accused Vijaya Mogaveera aged 25 years, Parampalli village was arrested and seized cash worth Rs. 470./-, along with ball pen and Matka chits. In this connection case has been registered in Kota PS.

Fake currency notes seized at Karkala

On 06/06/2007, on credible information at 18:30 hrs, Sri Ujjinappa, PSI Karkala Town and his staff raided public place near Pervaje junction, Karkala Kasba village, Karkala and arrested 2 suspected persons wandering here and there and seized 4 currency notes of Rs. 100 face value. Immediately PSI checked the currency notes and doubted that they were fake one. After obtaining expert opinion it was found that the notes are fake one. On enquiry, the arrested persons addressed them as 1) Ganesh, 38 years S/o Sundara Shetty, R/o Kallotte, Kasba, village, Karkala and 2) Annappa, 20 years S/o Parameshwara, R/o Gundyadka, Kukkundoor village, Karkala and confessed that they are trying to trasact them with the public. Karkala Town police registered a case against them in this regard and the case is under investigation.

Gambling raid by Karkala Police

On credible information Sri. B.S. Sathish, PSI Karkala Rural PS and his staff raided a private place near Mundkoor cross, Belman village, Karkala. At the time of raid on 2nd Floor of Krishna complex, the accused 1) Shivanada, 2) Dharmaraja, 3) Ashook, 4) Sathish Kanchan, 5) Sandeep Shetty, 6) Sudhakara Sherigara,7) Vjijaya Salian, 8) Liladhara Devadiga, 9) Karanukara Shetty and 10) Joseph were found playing cards and betting money on the game. The police party arrested all the gamblers, seized an amount of Rs. 8150/-, 52 playing cards, Tables, plastic chairs etc which are used for the gambling purpose. In this regard a gambling case registered against them in Karkala Rural PS.

Matka raid continued by Udupi Police

On credible information, matka raids were conducted by Sri C.E. Thimmayya along with his DCIB staff at various public places in Kundapura taluk, today at 10:30 hrs near JMJ Building, Basrur village, wherein the accused Raymond D`souza aged 60 years was arrested and seized cash worth Rs. 457/-. At 11:50 hrs, near Mugoli Junction wherein the accused Mahalinga Sherigara aged 57 years arrested and seized cash worth Rs. 425./-, along with ball pen and Matka chits. In this connection case has been registered in Kundapura PS.

Matka raids by Udupi police

On 02/06/2007 on credible information, DCIB Inspector Sri. C.E. Thimmaiah and his staff raided a place near Manipura, Manipura village, Udupi Taluk. At the time of police party raid accused Ravi Poojary of Katpady was collecting money from the public for betting on matka. Accused Ravi Poojary arrested and seized Rs. 781/- and Matka chits from the accused. In this connection a Matka case registered in Kaup PS and investigation is on.
In another matka raid by Sri M.Koragappa, ASI, Hebri PS and staff of Hebri PS near Ganesh Lodge, Hebri, arrested Ramesh Achari S/o Shyamaraya Achari, Hosooru, Hebri village and seized cash of Rs. 350/- and Matka chits. A case in Hebri PS in this regard has been registered and investigation is on.

Cheating case traced within 24 hrs by Hiriyadka Police

On 30/05/07 at about 12:00 Noon 3 unknown persons claiming themselves as Asst. Commissioner and Inspectors of Income Tax entered the house of one Mr. Bhaskar Acharya, Proprietor, Deepa Jewellers of Perdoor with a search warrant in a letter head of Income Tax Department, asking all the inmates to sit in the hall and searched the entire house. By drewing Mahazar and seized the golden ornaments in all about 1 KG. And also they demanded 4 Lakh as bribe for which the complainant handed over Rs. 50,000/-. Later on the accused persons left the house with the booty. Later on the complainant got suspicious about the behaviour of the raid party and on confirmation with the Income Tax Department, Udupi came to know that he had been cheated and lodged a complaint in Hiriyadka PS. In the meantime PSI Hiriyadka and staff visited the spot and found that the complaint’s daughter had taken photographs of the accused persons and also came to know that the accused had come in a car bearing registration No. KA 02 MA 456. Special police team for investigation was set up. Each and every lodges in and around Udupi were searched and it was found that the accused had stayed in Karavali lodge in Udupi by furnishing the address as P.T.Sathish, Contractor, Kushalnagar and the vehicle used by them was Ford Icon with No. KA 02 MA 4566. and by around 7 PM they had already vacated the lodge. Immediately Police team headed by PSI Hiriyadka started towards Kushalnagar of Kodagu district. On 01/06/2007 morning the team could locate P.T. Sathish and Shailaja and arrested them with the entire one KG gold ornaments and a cash of Rs. 20,000/-. Based on their information another team was sent to Bangalore to trace the other accused Raghuram. The team took the accused into custody along with the vehicle KA 02 MA 4566. Rs. 30,000/- cash was seized from him. Another accused Sureshbabu of Kushalnagar is absconding. On enquiry it was found that the complainant Bhaskara Acharya was not in terms with his younger brother Dayananda Acharya over division of ancestral property. Dayananda Acharya somehow wanted to trouble his elder brother. He with the help of his co-brother Sureshbabu residing in Kushalnagar hatched a plan with other accused and has committed the offence of cheating.
